Werewolves have taken a backseat to vampires for a while, but not in this list..

The anime and comics in this list explore all sorts of werewolves, from young ones to old ones. While some of them are scary, other are not and are in fact quite friendly. This list should be more than enough to quench any thrist for werewolves.

10. Dance in the Vampire Bund

Akira Kaburagi does not believe that vampires are real, and whenever they are mentioned he feels uneasy. Yet when he meets Mina, the vampire queen, he finds himself protecting her without knowing why. He soon discovers that he is a werewolf sworn from birth to protect her, even at the cost of his life, and as Mina works to secure a safe haven for the creatures of the night, his loyalty will be put to the test.

After crashing in the Arctic Circle, pilot Major Wiley Wolf developed amnesia and spent six months in the Canadian wilderness living with wolves. When he is rescued, he is eventually recruited into the CIA and is given special training that lets him change his face. Now operating under the alias Werewolf, Wolf’s main mission is to fight the enemies of freedom and democracy around the world

8. Cuticle Detective Inaba

Hiroshi Inaba is a part wolf detective who can pick out critical info just by sampling hair. He uses his ability to help the police solve crimes where other half humans are involved. Inaba’s main mission is to thwart the plans of his nemesis, the goat crime boss Don Valentino, and to get this money hungry villain behind bars he’ll need to do a lot of digging for evidence.

The baaad guy: Don Valentino is a money hungry goat and also Detective Inaba’s archenemy.

7. Broken Moon

Most of human civilization has been wiped out, and creatures from legends have come to take their place. Vampires have been generating massive amounts of pollution in order to block out the sun and are well on their way to making Earth uninhabitable. Humans and werewolves must forge an alliance to take on the vampires, but even that may not be enough to guarantee their victory. And so they find themselves turning to an unlikely source for help.

Teamwork makes the dreamwork: The vampires are a powerful enemy, and separate, humans and werewolves won’t be able to take them down.

6. Wolf’s Rain

The world is dying, and there exists a legend that when the world ends a gateway to paradise that only wolves can access will open. Kiba, a lone wolf, is drawn to Freeze City by a mysterious scent and meets other wolves there who were lured in by the same smell. Together, they begin the journey to find their promised land, but they aren’t the only ones seeking paradise.

Salvation: These wolves are searching for a paradise meant for them.

5. Judge Dredd: Cry of the Werewolf

Beneath Mega-City One, an urban nightmare built atop what was once North America’s east coast, is the Undercity, what was once New York City. In the Undercity only the most ruthless of creatures can survive, such as the carnivorous werewolf. One of these deadly creatures has made its way to Mega-City One, and it’s up to Judge Dredd to visit the Undercity and make sure that no more of them can get to the surface.

4. Spice and Wolf

Holo is a wolf deity who is revered in the small town Pasloe for blessing their annual harvest. However as times have changed, she is no longer as celebrated as she once was and has become little more than a folk tale. When the traveling trader Kraft Lawrence stops by the town, Holo offers to work with him if he’ll take her with him, and Lawrence accepts. With Holo by his side, Lawrence is that much closer to achieving his goal, but as the two travel together, what he aims for begins to change little by little.

3. Werewolf by Night (2020)

In a small Arizona town, danger is brewing. Jake is under a family curse, but that won’t stop him from doing his best to protect his people from a mysterious corporation. As Jake learns the truth behind his abilities, he crosses paths with powerful enemies, such as superhero Red Wolf.

A vicious beast: Jake transforms into a terrifying werewolf in order to fend off adversaries.

2. Wolf Children

Hana, a college student, falls in love with a mysterious man attending her lectures only to find out that he is a werewolf and the last of his kind. Still, they decide to start a family, but shortly after their second child is born, he dies. Now Hana is left to raise two werewolves on her own while trying to give them the freedom to choose whether they want to live as a human or a wolf.

Staying careful: When in public with her children, Hana must make sure they do not reveal their secret.

1. The Astounding Wolf-Man

CEO Gary Hampton is mauled by a werewolf, and cursed to turn into a werewolf during the full moon. Hampton plans to use his newfound powers for good. Yet as he becomes more in tune with his abilities, his private life takes a turn for the worse. For Hampton, balancing his superhero life and his at home life won’t be easy.
