[Top 15] CSGO Best AWP Players In The World Today

CSGO Best AWP Players
This is s1mple, the best AWP player in the world right now.

If you’re a fan of intense action, intense competition, and intense skill.

You’re most likely a fan of AWPing in CS:GO.

A gun capable of killing somebody in one shot from almost any distance (he’s legged!) needs to be incapable hands because every shot counts.

This is a list of the top 15 most capable players who have achieved mastery of the AWP and use it to dominate the server.

15. torzsi

torzsi communicating to his teammates mid-match.

20 year old Hungarian player Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás is the main AWPer for MOUZ.

He recently graduated from MOUZ Academy, where he dominated the academy scene, winning the entire league 2 seasons in a row. He also found success on the main roster, peaking as a semifinalist at his first-ever major.

torzsi’s rise to success is incredibly impressive, and you can expect to see him dominating the kill feed in the near future.

torzsi is the only Hungarian player on this list.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • IEM Rio Major 2022 - 3-4th ($80,000)
  • ESL Challenger Rotterdam 2022 - 3-4th ($10,000)

14. saffee

saffee at his battle station with eyes locked onto his monitor ready for war.

Rafael “saffee” Costa is the 27-year-old Brazilian AWPer for Furia.

saffee’s professional career began in 2020 with another Brazilian team by the name of paiN. However, this team was based in North America so the level of competition wasn’t very high.

saffee finally got a chance to prove he could hang with the big dogs (European players) when he joined Furia in January 2022.  And boy did he prove himself, sitting at an impressive 1.08 HLTV rating in the past 3 months.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • IEM Rio Major 2022 - 3-4th ($80,000)
  • PGL Major Antwerp 2022 - 5-8th ($35,000)

13. hades

Hades posing with his stylish glasses for the camera.

This 22-year-old AWPer for ex-Finest is the only Polish player on this list.

Meet hades, named after the god of the underworld. It’s a fitting name given that you’ll be headed there after going against his AWP.

The peak of his career so far was on ENCE, but he has since tapered off. It’s a shame to see such a talented player get relegated to Tier 2 CS:GO but we hope to see him back in Tier 1 soon.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • CCT Central Europe Series 3 - 2nd ($10,000)
  • PGL Major Antwerp - 3-4th ($70,000)

12. oSee

oSee is zoned into the game, sporting his old Cloud 9 jersey.

Call this man Christopher Kyle because he is the American Sniper. Josh “oSee” Ohm is the only American on this list and plays for Team Liquid.

oSee has had an extensive career, mainly within the NA scene, having played for renowned organizations like Cloud 9.

Please join me in singing the national anthem: "oSee can you saaay."

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • ESL Pro League Season 16 - 2nd ($85,000)
  • BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2022 - 1-3rd ($27,500)

11. nicoodoz

nicodooz primed and ready to destroy with his AWP.

Nico “nicoodoz” Tamijdi is the 22-year-old primary AWPer for Fnatic, the legendary CS:GO organization.

After a successful dark horse run at the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 with the full Danish roster, Copenhagen Flames, he transferred over to his current team, Fnatic.

He’s a big-time Twitter troll and has a running joke about getting verified and unverified constantly.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • Elisa Masters Espoo 2022 - 1st ($100,000)
  • IEM Rio Major 2022 - 5-8th ($45,000)

10. broky

Should Broky ever decide professional CSGO isn't for him anymore, he could definitely consider modelling.

Some call him the Latvian Legolas.

(Okay fine. Only I call him that.)

But Helvijs “broky” Saukants (what a tongue twister) is a wizard with the AWP. He’s well known for his snappy flicks and reality-defying clutches. Sitting at a 1.14 HLTV rating, he makes a huge impact on his team, FaZe Clan.

Currently, broky has 2 event MVPs under his belt. One from BLAST Premier Fall Final 2022 and the other from IEM Katowice 2022.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • PGL Major Antwerp 2022 - 1st ($500,000)
  • BLAST Premier Fall Final 2022 - 2nd ($85,000)

9. SunPayus

SunPayus giving a goofy pose to the camera after a thrilling victory.

Many call him the Spanish Sniper.

(You caught me again; it’s only me.)

Alvaro “Sunpayus” Garcia was the star of his old Spanish squad, the Movistar Riders, but now plays for the international team ENCE. He stands alone as the only Spanish player on this list, and in Tier 1 CS:GO.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • CCT North Europe Series 2 - 1st ($22,000)
  • IEM Cologne 2022 - 3-4th ($80,000) (with Movistar Riders)

8. degster

degster letting out a triumphant roar after a sick round.

Not to be confused with the Australian IGL dexter, Abdul “degster” Gasanov is a feared Russian sniper on any server.

He previously played for team Spirit before eventually leaving and playing as a stand-in for OG at BLAST Premier Spring Final 2022, where they beat Natus Vincere (NAVI), who was the world number 1 at the time, beat ENCE 2-0, and then almost beating NAVI again but falling short on the third map. Degster would sign with OG as their permanent main AWPer after a successful trial run.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • CCT Central Europe Series 2 - 2nd ($10,000)
  • BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2022 - 1-3rd ($27,500)

7. cadiaN

cadiaN celebrating a win with Teses in the background.

Often touted as the most passionate professional CS:GO player. It’s not a cadiaN game if you don’t hear him screaming at the top of his lungs at any given moment.

Casper “cadiaN” Møller’s story is one of perseverance and inspiration.

His professional career started in 2014. Playing all the way to 2018, he achieved mediocre results for most of his career. At one point, he had even taken a break from competing to take on an analyst role during events. But in September 2019, he joined Heroic, where he still plays to this day. Heroic is where his entire career trajectory changed, and he has since won 5 events with the team.

Casper’s story is the definition of never giving up on your dreams.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • BLAST Premier Fall Final 2022 - 1st ($200,000)
  • IEM Rio Major 2022 - 2nd ($170,000)

6. syrsoN

syrsoN is cool calm and collected, ready to strike at any time.

Florian “syrsoN” Rische is the primary AWPer for the German team BIG (Berlin International Gaming).

His gameplay has been inconsistent as of late, but when he hits his stride, he can single-handedly win games for his squad.

syrsoN has two event MVPs, one from Roobet Cup 2022 and the DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 - Europe.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • Roobet Cup 2022 - 1st ($150,000)
  • IEM Dallas 2022 - 3-4th ($20,000)

5. m0NESY

m0NESY is all smiles after a successful round.

The CIS region has no shortage of pumping out Counterstrike prodigies, but m0NESY stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov joined NAVI’s academy team when he was just 15 years old. Despite dominating that level of competition, he was never brought up to the main team.

He was so good that he’s been called the next coming of s1mple (#1). Instead, he ended up joining G2 at age 17.

Although he has been performing very well in his rookie year on the Tier 1 scene as a youngster, the team has yet to produce a good result. In fact, they failed to even qualify for IEM Rio Major 2022 despite having some of the best players in the world on their team.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • IEM Katowice 2022 - 2nd ($180,000)
  • WePlay Academy League Season 2 Finals - 2nd ($20,000) (with NAVI Junior)

4. Jame

As stoic as his beard is magnificent, Jame stays calm in any situation.

It’s not showtime. It’s Jame time.

It has now become well known that the words “save” and Jame have become synonymous.

Dzhami “Jame” Ali is both the IGL and primary AWPer for Outsiders (formerly known as the legendary organization Virtus Pro).

He is the list's most recent major winner, proving that he is more than just a meme.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • IEM Rio Major 2022 - 1st ($500,000)
  • ESL Challenger Rotterdam 2022 - 1st ($50,000)

3. sh1ro

sh1ro is proud to represent NA organization Cloud 9.

Another one of CIS’ finest.

Another player that has once been compared to the GOAT s1mple.

Sitting at a 1.26 HLTV rating, the highest on this list so far, Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov leads Cloud 9 wielding his mighty AWP in hand.

Originally starting on Gambit’s academy team, Gambit Youngsters, his entire squad was eventually promoted to the main Gambit team, where they dominated the online COVID-19 era. They won a whopping 7 events during this time.

When Russian conflicts began to ramp up in 2022, sh1ro and his teammates were forced to play as “free agents” for a while before signing with juggernaut North American organization Cloud 9.

Dmitry has 4 MVPs to his name, which ranked him as the 4th best player in 2021.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • IEM Dallas 2022 - 1st ($100,000)
  • Funspark ULTI 2021 Finals - 1st ($150,000)

2. ZywOo

ZywOo shows his hype as Vitality wins a clutch round.

You could call him the Kylian Mbappe of CS:GO (for any soccer/football fans out there).

This French prodigy seemingly popped up out of nowhere in 2018 and began to dominate the competition.

Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut joined Vitality in October of 2018 and has been a top 2 AWPer ever since.

His timid personality is the polar opposite of his ferociousness inside the server.

ZywOo has 13 event MVPs and was crowned HLTV’s #1 player two years in a row in 2019 and 2020, but fell to #2 in 2021.

Recent major tournament achievements:

  • ESL Pro League Season 16 - 1st ($200,000)
  • IEM Winter 2021 - 1st ($100,000)

1. s1mple

s1mple offers his teammate a fist bump, already looking towards securing the next round.

Saving the best for last, quite literally.

We are ending this list with the greatest player to ever touch CS:GO, and that’s not just a personal opinion.

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev is a Ukrainian superstar who sits as the apex predator of the entire competitive scene, though it hasn’t always been sunshine and rainbows for him. s1mple has had a history of being toxic to teammates and has been ostracized by many teams. He had such a reputation among the EU scene he had a stint on the NA organization Team Liquid, where he hit his famous 1v2 no scope clip on Cache.

It wasn’t until he joined NAVI that he had the teamwork and respect he needed to cement himself as the best.

s1mple has 21 MVPs, the most of any player in history.
Recent major tournament achievements:

  • PGL Major Antwerp 2022 - 2nd ($150,000)
  • PGL Major Stockholm 2021 - 1st ($1,000,000)
  • Honorable Mention: Intel Grand Slam Season 3 - 1st ($1,000,000)
