[Top 10] Minecraft Best Seeds For Hunger Games That Are Fun

Minecraft was a huge part of my childhood - as were the Hunger Games books and movies! Even if you’d never read or watched them, if you played Minecraft with your friends growing up, you’ve likely played a round of Hunger Games with them at least once. Remaining one of my favorite minigames to this day, the Hunger Games were always a blast - trying to survive when your enemies are mindless AI monsters and mobs is one thing, but fighting your fellow sentient man adds a whole new level of tension and anxiety. However, an unappreciated layer of this experience happens to be the artistry that goes into constructing a Hunger Games map. If you’ve been thinking about building your own, here are ten great seeds with challenging and inspiring terrain to start with.

According to the video, this seed is exclusive to the Xbox One and the PS4. To my knowledge, it’s never been tested on a different platform. Regardless, this seed still makes a pretty great base for a Hunger Games map. The dense jungle has an organically generated coastline, and it greatly reminds me of how the woodlands were depicted in the first film. Jungle biomes are naturally a difficult terrain to travel in, but it provides a myriad of perks, too - many places to hide, and many places to climb to achieve a height advantage.

I chose this seed for its accessible variety of environments. There are snowy mountains, jungles, and even some beautifully colorful badlands. You could make a massive Hunger Games map that includes portions of all these biomes, or multiple smaller ones, each containing their own unique topography.

An important feature in the original series is the barrier that surrounds the arena, forming a huge, nigh-impenetrable bubble to trap the Tributes inside. You could build this bubble yourself, or you could use a seed like this one: an oblong mountain range rings a deep valley, which holds a savanna and a forest, forming a naturally generated wall to prevent your players from escaping the Games.

I’ve included a few seeds on this list that hide their brilliance underground. A huge part of the Hunger Games experience is a pervasive sense of panic as you step into this terrifying life-or-death situation. Being corralled within an underground cavern layers that panic with claustrophobia. However, with this specific seed, the fear of the dark won’t be a problem; this gorgeous lush cave is massive and well-populated with luminescent vines of glowing berries.

This seed features a mountain range that forms a near perfect circle around a flowery valley. There aren’t many places to hide in this particular seed… perhaps it could make a great deathmatch arena, where the final handful of Tributes are dropped alone into the valley to take one another out and decide the winner, once and for all. Or maybe you could build a town to explore and hide in, or even utilize the tunnels cut out of the earth.

This lonely snowy peak has a buffet of biomes surrounding it at its feet. This seed provides a wide scope for the imagination. You could really get creative with the level design of this one. Choosing a place to spawn your Tributes, deciding the significance of the mountain, picking which biomes to focus on - you could do a lot with environmental storytelling here. The possibilities are endless.

This seed features a couple of naturally generated structures already. The beautiful taiga forest is framed by hills, and a lovely river cuts through the terrain, leading from the village to the Woodland Mansion nearby. You could destroy these structures, if they didn’t fit your vision, but certainly, you could also utilize them in your map, as well!

The terrain in this seed is a real challenge to work with, but a determined and innovative creator could definitely turn these incredible badlands into something truly amazing to fight and survive in. The huge, sheer cliffs, dropping into the canal below, could be bridged by all sorts of things. Like, for example… bridges. …starting to think that I’m not one of the innovative creators I mentioned before.

Featuring another seed that comes with a built-in arena barrier, our number two entry spawns you on the side of a snowy mountain range that walls in a forested valley. There’s a lovely round lake set in on one end of the valley. This makes a really nice landmark and spot of intrigue. This seed would be fairly well-set for a round of Hunger Games without almost any editing!

Our last seed takes place on a beautiful taiga island, which is home to a massive snowy mountain that hides enormous caverns inside. This is not only a unique setting for a Hunger Games arena, but it comes with some incredible built-in challenges and advantages for your Tributes to play with and, more importantly, you to build with. You could tuck all manner of structures away in the caverns, and create dangerous traps out of powdered snow.

This list has really sparked a craving for some Hunger Games. Not only do I want to rewatch the films, but I want to play a round or two myself, too! If our real-world dystopia is just not thrilling enough for you, you can dive into a fictional one for a little more action and drama. We’ll see you around - happy gaming, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
