[Top 5] Raft Battery Powered Items (And Why They're Useful)
A wind turbine is used to charge batteries.

Batteries are what you’ll use most of your copper ingots on. They are a bit of a hassle to make and charge early on, but once you’re far enough along, batteries will be nothing to you. Battery-powered machines are mega-useful upgrades for your raft. Here are the top 5 battery-powered machines in Raft.

The normal battery has 50 uses, while the advanced battery has 3.5 times more power than the normal one.

5. Recycler

The recycler makes trash cubes that can be traded at the trading posts.

The recycler is absolutely necessary for fast progression in the game. It can turn basic resources into trash cubes. The trash cubes can then be traded for resources such as metal ore, titanium ore, scrap, or even blueprints.

You can beat the game without the recycler and trading post, but it’ll definitely take you longer to obtain resources, and who knows, it might be a fun challenge.

The blueprint for the recycler can be found on the top floor of the radio tower. Though if you miss it and progress past the Radio Tower story, you’ll find that the Recycler will be automatically researched in your research table.

Why It’s a Great Battery-powered Item:

  • The trash cubes can be traded for useful resources at the trading post.
  • You can get rid of some excess materials that are taking up too much of your storage.
  • You can just place your resources in the recycler and leave it be. It’ll do all the work for you.

How to Make the Recycler:

  • 6 plastic
  • 5 metal ingot
  • 2 bolts or hinges
  • 1 circuit board

4. Electric Smelter

Smelts items so efficiently.

The Electric Smelter is the upgraded version of the regular Smelter. The blueprint for the Electric Smelter can be found on the Temperance story island.

A normal battery lasts for 380 seconds (or 6 min and 20 sec). The advanced battery will last about 22 minutes.

Why It’s a Great Battery-powered Item:

  • One electric smelter has three slots for smelting material.
  • You don’t need to place the same type of materials in each slot.
  • You can place the smelting materials at different times. All slots don’t need to be full to start.

How to Make the Electric Smelter:

  • 10 dry brick
  • 1 circuit board
  • 6 metal ingot
  • 6 titanium ingot

3. Metal Detector

Looking for buried treasure never gets old.

The metal detector is used to find buried treasure on islands.

You can craft the metal detector with a battery, no matter the durability left on it. So, I recommend using your dead batteries to craft the metal detector while it’s still early-game, as charging batteries takes up resources you may need later on.

While you can find buried treasure on all randomly generated islands and most story islands with natural land—such as Balboa and Vasagatan—Temperance has no buried treasure. So, don’t bother bringing a metal detector onto it.

Why It’s a Great Battery-powered Item:

  • You can find special items such as developer paintings, toy robots, cassette tapes, and tiki pieces.
  • Buried treasure is the only way you can find Tiki pieces.
  • The metal detector won't drain the battery unless you're using it and it's in the range where it can find metal.

How to Make the Metal Detector:

  • 12 plastic
  • 6 scrap
  • 1 battery

2. Sprinkler

A beautiful garden and sprinkler system.

The sprinkler is so high on my list because I absolutely dread watering my crops. Early in the game, I actually slacked on crop farming because I didn’t want to have to water my plants. Being able to just get out of there after harvesting and planting my crops is such a huge weight off my shoulders.

A sprinkler holds up to 30 uses, while a normal battery can be used for 50 uses. That means one battery can power the sprinkler 1⅔ times.

Why It’s a Great Battery-powered Item:

  • A sprinkler can hold up to 30 uses.
  • The sprinkler can water a 3x3 area.
  • You won’t ever have to water your crops manually ever again.
  • It’s a real time saver as you don’t have to run back and forth between crops and your fresh water sources.

How to Make the Sprinkler:

  • 12 plastic
  • 2 scrap
  • 2 bolts
  • 1 circuit board

1. Electric Purifier

An electric purifier was connected to the garden on the top floor of my raft.

There’s no need to manually scoop and pour saltwater into a purifier anymore with the Electric Purifier. The purifier can be hooked up to water pipes that can be connected to water tanks.

The blueprint for the Electric Purifier can be found in the Plantation area of Tangaroa.

You can only place the purifier next to a seawater source.

Why It’s a Great Battery-powered Item:

  • One battery powers the water purifier for five times the tank size. That is 75 cups of water purified with one battery.
  • It holds 15 cups of fresh water.
  • It can pump fresh water up to eight floors up from the foundation level.

How to Make the Electric Purifier:

  • 4 titanium ingots
  • 1 circuit board
  • 20 plastic
  • 5 scrap
