[Top 10] Rust Best Base Designs

Rust Best Base Designs
A massive, carefully built base inside a rock formation in Rust.

This article is going to tell you about the 10 best base designs in Rust to help keep you and your loot safe from those pesky raiders. Having a strong base is essential to being a good Rust player, and base building was always one of my strongpoints when I played this game.

Building your own base is an art form and quite enjoyable to do. I often drew great pleasure from seeing how well my designs would fare against the determined foes who tried to penetrate it. Check these carefully thought out designs by some Rust experts.

10. The Chad Pad

Why this base is great:

  • Look at all those auto turrets (need I say more?).
  • The total sheet metal construction adds cost but makes this small base into a tank.
  • While only being designed for two players to live in, the Chad Pad offers a very versatile home with plenty of capability for whatever your playstyle may be.
  • A veritable mini-fortress, your enemies will need at least 23 rockets to get to the tool cupboard that is buried deep within the layers of this iron-clad beast.

9. The Predator Mini

Why this base is great:

  • Harvest your own electricity with the roof windmill – or really put whatever you want up there.
  • Plenty of honeycomb provides decent protection with added cost (at least 23-27 rockets to tool cupboard).
  • While not an adequate starter base, this base is very useful for later game players and provides all the fixings once you are satisfactorily settled into the server.
  • Highly defensible with multiple windows and a 360 degree view.

8. Trio Base

Why this base is great:

  • If you can afford to build this base, you won’t be lacking in utility.
  • It is expensive to build largely due to a high-quality metal core, but it is very well designed.
  • Live like a king with a Heli pad on the roof!
  • Layers of honeycomb offer acceptable protection for this high functioning home base.
  • This base is for the wealthy Rust player or committed farmer – but fear not, you get what you pay for.

7. Main Base

Why this base is great:

  • The high walls offer some extra protection to an already beefy base.
  • It lacks in tool cupboard protection because of the external TC’s, but this is a very large base for a low cost.
  • The increased size of this base means you won’t be lacking in anything.
  • The large furnaces mean you will be cooking a lot of ore quickly.

6. The Mini Frustrater

Why this base is great:

  • This base is extremely cheap and a great choice for a solo or duo clan.
  • While small, the mini frustrater is very well protected from raids.
  • Even with the small size and cost this base sacrifices nothing in practicality.
  • This base is well defendable with its window level – there’s even room for some traps inside.

5. Solo Bunker

Why this base is great:

  • Extremely cheap to build.
  • 16 rockets to tool cupboard with the armored walls, a great protective value.
  • Very quick and easy to construct.
  • Highly expandable.
  • Easily hidden in the landscape.

4. A Bunker by Prince Vidz

Why this base is great:

  • A very low-end base in terms of cost.
  • Extremely well protected due to the bunker design.
  • This base is easy to build and expand upon which often comes in handy.
  • Your loot and person will be very safe offline in this rock-solid base.
  • Roomy enough for a bunker, with plenty of storage space.

3. A Bunker by Jason Lewis

Why this base is great:

  • This base is cheap in terms of resource costs.
  • Very strong against a raid (32 or more rockets to TC).
  • The strength comes from the clever bunker design without sacrificing workability.
  • Easily expand this base for further protection and defensibility.
  • Can fit four large boxes in the bunker, as well as five large boxes and three small boxes in the rest of the base – as well as everything you’ll need through the wipe.

  • Has everything you will need throughout the wipe.
  • Plenty of room in this smaller and honeycombed base.

1. The Frustrater

  • Easy to build once you have enough resources.
  • The design is very well done and practical.
  • You can feel safe in this moderately sized and layered base.

Now you should have a refined idea of what you want to build for your base. You can use any one of these, based on the links I provided, or you can do a combination. But if you want to wing it (as I always did), that works too! Whatever your choice, remember that no base is raid proof and that ultimately you will lose everything – even if your base is untouched for the whole wipe.
