After unlocking the greenhouse, a new world of possibilities has opened up. With the greenhouse, you’ll be able to plant seeds outside of their season, which will help you make a profit, finish certain challenges, and make certain dishes. Here’s a list of what I believe are 15 of the best crops to grow in the greenhouse.

 

15. Qi Fruit

Though Qi Fruit itself doesn’t sell for much, to beat one of Mr. Qi’s challenges, you’ll have to ship 500 Qi Fruit. This is a daunting task to think about, but using the greenhouse to help may help it seem less scary.

What Makes Qi Fruit Great for Greenhouse

  • It’ll help complete the 500 Qi Fruit goal.
  • If you don’t have the space on your farm, the greenhouse will help tremendously.
  • Finishing this quest gives you 100 Qi Gems.

Qi Fruit Details

  • Qi Fruit cannot be bought, it must be found.
  • They don’t sell for much at all—only 1g.

 

14. Tea Bush

Tea Bushes are unlocked after reaching two hearts with Caroline. They’re in season for every season but winter, but planting them in the greenhouse will make them available year-round.

What Makes Tea Bushes Great for Greenhouse

  • They can be used to make Green Tea.
  • Green Tea boosts energy for +30 for about four minutes
  • Tea Leaves can be pickled, which will sell for extra profit.

Tea Bush Details

  • Tea Bushes are crafted, not bought, so they’re free to obtain.
  • Tea Bushes take 20 days to mature.

 

13. Blueberries

Blueberries are a great crop that grows during the summer. It takes 13 days to grow fully, and can easily make money as well as other gifts.

  • A reproducible crop that can be harvested more than once.
  • Drops more than one crop per harvest, making it more profitable.
  • Can be used to make profitable artisan goods.

Blueberry Details

  • Blueberries can be turned into Blueberry Tart, which makes a great gift.

 

12. Cranberries

Like Blueberries, Cranberries are a great crop that can be grown and harvested in the fall rather than the summer. The biggest difference is that these crops take less time to grow, taking 7 days to mature.

  • Drops more than one crop per harvest, making it more profitable. 
  • Can be used to make profitable artisan goods.

  • They’re used in many recipes, which have many useful buffs.
  • The dishes can be given as gifts!.

 

11. Cactus Fruit

Cactus Fruit can be bought from Sandy in the Desert for 150g. They grow poorly anywhere other than the Desert.

What Makes Cactus Fruit Great for Greenhouse

  • Cactus Fruit can only grow in the greenhouse, so this is a huge advantage to growing them there.
  • They bear fruit every three days after fully grown, giving fruit quite often.
  • They aren’t crazy valuable, but they can be turned into artisan goods as well as given as gifts to certain characters.

Cactus Fruit Details

  • They don’t grow on the farm at all, even during the summer.

 

10. Strawberries

Strawberries are bought during the egg festival for 100gper seed, and take eight days to grow. Though they’re worth a decent amount, they can’t be harvested to their fullest potential at first since you can only get them on the 13th of Spring.

What Makes Strawberries Great for Greenhouse

  • They reproduce rather than being harvested just once after fully grown.
  • They’re fairly valuable and can earn a good amount of profit.
  • They earn even more from artisans.

Strawberry Details

  • They’re one of the most profitable crops in the early game.

 

9. Corn

Corn is a great crop that can be grown and harvested in the summer and fall. It takes 14 days for it to grow and can be used for many things.

What Makes Corn Great for Greenhouse

  • Corn is another awesome crop that reproduces after fully grown.
  • Can be used to make artisan goods.
  • Can be turned into valuable dishes, but can also be turned into oil which is then used to make even more recipes.

Corn Details

  • Though there are multiple ears on the sprite, you can only harvest one corn at a time.

 

8. Pumpkins

Pumpkins grow in the fall, and grow after 13 days. They’re great for money and cooking, and though this has nothing to do with the greenhouse, the golden pumpkin you can get from the fall festival sells for a good amount.

What Makes Pumpkins Great for Greenhouse

  • Pumpkins sell for a pretty high profit on their own.
  • They can be used to make Pumpkin Soup which gives +2 luck and +2 defense.
  • Aside from the base value, the wine and jam profits are great too.

  • They grow after 13 days.
  • Can turn into a giant crop.

 

7. Hops

Hops are a trellis crop that grows after 11 days. They can be sold during the summer, and although they don’t sell for much on their own, they can be turned into something very profitable.

  • Hops can be harvested every day after fully grown.
  • They can be turned into pale ale, which is profitable.
  • It’s easy to make a quick profit with them if they’re grown in the greenhouse year-round.

  • Since it’s a trellis crop, it can’t be planted in the entire greenhouse since it can’t be walked through.

 

6. Starfruit

Starfruit seeds are sold by Sandy in the desert, so they aren’t unlockable right away. However, once they are unlocked, they’re well worth it, especially in the greenhouse.

  • Can only be grown in summer, so as a profitable crop, it will do great in the greenhouse.
  • Can be turned into artisan goods, which will have a higher profit.
  • The price for the seeds may be high, but the selling point for the fruit is worth it.

  • The seeds are sold by Sandy at 400g
  • The least amount they can sell for is 750g

 

5. Peach Trees

Fruit trees, once fully grown, will produce fruit every day. They normally only bear fruit for one season, so the greenhouse will make them extremely useful.

  • You don’t have to water the trees, allowing you to forget about them while they grow.
  • You won’t have to pick the fruit every day, for up to three days.
  • You can sell them for more profit by turning them into something else (i.e., jelly or wine).

  • Orchard fruits are great gifts to give out.
  • The saplings grow in any season.
  • They can be planted on the sides of the greenhouse.

 

4. Pomegranate Trees

Like the Peach Tree, Pomegranate Trees are just as useful. They’re the two trees with the highest profit, so their spots are interchangeable. 

What Makes Pomegranate Trees Great for Greenhouse

  • You don’t have to water the trees, allowing you to forget about them while they grow.
  • You won’t have to pick the fruit every day, for up to three days
  • You can sell them for more profit by turning them into something else (i.e., jelly or wine).

  • Orchard fruits are great gifts to give out.
  • The saplings grow in any season.
  • They can be planted on the sides of the greenhouse.

 

3. Coffee Beans

Coffee Beans are very useful, as they can be turned into Coffee or Triple Expresso, helping you get around faster. This helps when the days don’t seem long enough. 

What Makes Coffee Beans Great for Greenhouse

  • Coffee Beans reproduce instead of being one harvest only.
  • They drop multiple beans at a time.
  • Triple Expresso is very valuable food both in speed and money. 

Coffee Beans Details

  • They don’t count as artisan goods, so the artisan profession doesn’t help with them.
  • They can sometimes be found in Dust Sprites.
  • The traveling merchant may sell them.

 

2. Ancient Fruit

Ancient Fruit is a great way to make a profit. Seeds can be found on the ground in an artifact spot. Afterward, they can be created from more Ancient Seeds found or from the seed maker.

  • They’re normally grown in any season except winter, so the greenhouse is a great place for them to grow year-round.
  • The crop reproduces which makes it extremely profitable.
  • Once fully in the greenhouse, they become an infinite source of income.

Ancient Fruit Details

  • They usually take 28 days to grow.
  • There’s a .5% chance to get 1-3 Ancient Seeds instead of the crop’s seeds.
  • There’s a 1.26% chance for the seeds to appear in the traveling merchant’s cart.

 

1. Sweet Gem Berry

Sweet Gem Berries come from the “rare seed,” which you can buy for 1,000 G per seed up to twice a week from the traveling merchant cart on Fridays and Sundays. It may not seem worth it for that much money, especially at the beginning of the game when you might not have that much money to spare, but it’ll be well worth it in the end.

What Makes Sweet Gem Berry Great for Greenhouse

  • The least amount the Berry sells for is 3,000gmaking it very profitable.
  • Since it takes 28 days to mature, you won’t have to worry about planting on the first day of fall.
  • The highest they sell for is 6,000g.

Sweet Gem Berry Details

  • The berries cannot be used to make artisan goods.
  • Though they’re expensive to buy, you could always get free seeds from a seed maker.
