[Top 12] Best Fighting Games for PC

Best Fighting Games for PC
Whether Ryu and Akuma, Kazuya and Heihachi, Skorpion and Sub-Zero, fighting games are known for rivalries.

12. Tekken 7 - 2015 (PS4, XBOX One, PC)

Tekken 7 is the most recent release in the acclaimed Tekken series. Continuing the feud between the Mishima bloodline, Tekken 7 follows Heihachi Mishima, Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama as they battle in a classic tale of good versus evil. Featuring stunning story-driven battles and intense cinematic duels, Tekken 7 is one of the biggest fighting games currently and one of the most exciting to watch.

Tekken is home to some of the hottest babes in all of fighting games, and Tekken 7 has some new additions for you to enjoy while you experience the intense action. Nina Williams, the beautiful blonde and her sister Anna if you prefer a brunette. New to Tekken 7 is Katarina Alves, a fan favorite and with Tekken 7’s customization you can have your babes in any outfit of your choice to take into battle.

Tekken is an interesting fighter because it centers around excellent movement. In itself, movement in Tekken can take years to master at the highest level. However, the most fun in Tekken has to be combos. From staple combos to homemade combos the system is immensely intricate. You can put hours into practice mode piecing together your own combos, or attempting some of the most difficult combos in all of fighting games not even the pros dare attempt.

“There is a certain charm to the entirely over-the-top nature of Tekken’s lore.” - IGN

“When it comes to fighting, Tekken 7 is glorious fun.” - PCGamer

“You’d think that after 23 years, someone could be forgiven for throwing his son off a cliff and leaving him for dead.” - Polygon

Choose this game if you like:

Complexity - Tekken is a series that rewards mastering your character as well as your inputs, with many things only being possible with frame perfect timing. Being a 3D fighter, timing, movement and spacing are essential and even backdashing can be an art form.

Action - Tekken has very flashy attack animations and combos. Wall and floor breaks and the addition of a new super-like mechanic called the Rage Art make Tekken very exciting to watch and play. With a massive cast of characters the action never gets old and can be played for years without ever learning everything possible within it.

Crossovers - Tekken 7 has had some major character crossovers. We’ve seen the addition of Negan from The Walking Dead, Noctis from FFXV, and everyone’s favorite Raging Demon, Akuma from Street Fighter.

Fun Factor Score: 88/100

Kazuya Mishima, the devil himself versus the Raging Demon, Akuma, can any fighting game fan ask for more?

11. Dragon Ball FighterZ - 2018 (Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, PC)

DRAGON BALL FighterZ is born from what makes the DRAGON BALL series so loved and famous: endless spectacular fights with its all-powerful fighters. Partnering with Arc System Works, DRAGON BALL FighterZ maximizes high end Anime graphics and brings easy to learn but difficult to master fighting gameplay.

DRAGON BALL isn’t known for having the greatest abundance of female characters, but FighterZ does have some to offer. The original babe and my personal favorite Android 18 and the wholesome Videl are joined by some new faces such as Android 21 and now Android 21 (Lab Coat). With the lab coat on, this is essentially Android 21’s human form, so take your pick of which you like.

DRAGON BALL FighterZ is different from previous games in the DRAGONBALL universe. It is a 2.5D fighter from the makers of Guilty Gear and the art style lends itself perfectly to the epic and destructive fights of the series. Jump into a 3 on 3 fight, complete with assists that will feel very reminiscent of Marvel vs Capcom, leaving hundreds of combinations possible with a roster of over 40 characters.

“FighterZ is fast, fluid and cerebral. It hits that sweet spot of being easy to learn, but hard to master...” - IGN

“FighterZ is complex and distinct enough to be enjoyed by fighting game competitors, but there's no question that it's been designed to tap into the hearts of Dragon Ball's most dedicated fans…” - Gamespot

“It's like watching a regular fighting game with heightened senses—everything is brighter, louder and more impactful.” - Kotaku

Choose this game if you like:

High-end Anime Graphics - The drawn artistic style makes the 3D characters look like literal anime drawings. It truly looks like you are controlling your favorite DRAGON BALL fights. It creates the perfect feel to a Dragon Ball fighting game like never before.

3v3 Tag/Support - Build your team and sharpen your skills for this game's fast paced 3 versus 3 action. Get ready to see Goku versus Freiza versus Cell versus Vegeta versus Buu? The combinations are endless as to who you can pit against each other.

Exclusive Story Mode - Discover a never-seen-before story featuring Android 21 a new character. If you thought you were going to put another 8 hours into your usual Android and Cell sagas, think again. This game has a story all its own and it is worth playing to experience your favorite characters in new interactions.

Fun Factor Score: 95/100

This game has everything Dragon Ball you can imagine. Like this, one of the most epic moments in the Super series: Super Saiyan Blue + Kaioken.

With a combat style very similar to Mortal Kombat, Injustice adds superpowers, literally. The scale of action is a little larger in Injustice as characters have the ability to run faster than the speed of light, or leap a building in a single bound. Six years have passed since the last title in the series, and now KOF XV surpasses all of its predecessors in terms of graphics, systems, and online experience!

KOF XV sees the return of classic babes like King and Mai Shiranui, as well as some new favorites. Shermie brings an interesting new appeal and Dolores is one of the hottest and most dangerous new characters in the series.

KOF XV is known for having some pretty strict timing. King of Fighters XV is by no means an easy fighting game to get into. The attacks, moves, and overall aesthetic may appear on the simplistic side, but there is a mountain of depth beneath it all.

"Will I ever get to the point where I can claim to be good at the game? Debatable. But will it be fun along the way? For sure." - Cublikefoot

3. Samurai Shodown - 2019 (PS4, PS5, XBOX One, XBOX Series S and X, PC)

Samurai Shodown, not to be confused with the original of the same name, is a soft-reboot of the series that slots between Samurai Shodown V and the original. While that likely sounds intimidating from a story perspective, the whole point of SNK winding the clock back so far was to ease players into this long absent series.

Samurai Shodown has an array of sword-wielding female characters with all types of weapons to boot. Iroha wielding two curved blades, Wu-Ruixiang with her shield and Charlotte Christine de Colde as the short sword wielding blonde.

Samurai Shodown hasn’t had much change in its gameplay over the years. This level of simplicity definitely has its appeal, and Samurai Shodown strikes a good balance between approachability and deeper mechanics that helps separate those who just mash special and heavy attacks from those who take the time to learn. Nuances like the best times to deflect, when to spot dodge, when to trigger rage explosions, when to use Lightning Blade attacks, and when to close your eyes, cross your fingers, and use a Darli Dagger punch to pull a victory out of thin air are all part of the mix.

“There's an extraordinarily tense style of fighting that is unlike just about anything else in the genre.” - IGN

“The various attack weights feel substantial, and even basic standing, crouching, and dashing moves are a lot of fun to see executed onscreen as blades whoosh around in beautiful arcs--to say nothing of the flashy special moves” - Gamespot

“SAMURAI SHODOWN is faithful to the series' roots by delivering the same tense and exhilarating battles that it has always been known for.” - Metacritic

Choose this game if you like:

Carrying On the Legacy - The new game aims to bring the same tense and exhilarating battles that the series is known for. Intense and epic battles are back!

Evolving the Presentation - Using the power of UNREAL® ENGINE 4, the series is able to achieve a level of detail never before seen for a totally new visual experience!

A Revolutionary New AI System - Using revolutionary Deep Learning AI, the game will learn from player tactics and create Ghost characters which players around the globe can share and fight against.

Fun Factor Score: 80/100

Slick Samurai Swordplay and some hard-hitting slashes, this game can take your life bar and give it a death by 1000 cuts.

2. Brawlhalla - 2014 (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC)

Brawlhalla Gameplay Trailer

History's greatest warriors brawl to prove who's the best in an epic test of strength and skill. These slugfests are salted with powerful weapons and gadgets. Every weapon you pick up changes your style of play. Brawlhalla is a platformer melee similar to Super Smash Bros. With crossplay and a solid player base there's always action to jump into in this game.

Brawlhalla has a large character list and although the characters are pretty much sprites there are a good number of female characters to take into the brawl. Lin Fei and her dragon flames, and Fait the green-haired witch are just a couple of the ladies that are ready to smack your opponents off the screen in a trail of smoke.

Brawlhalla is not the most technical fighter however, it has a large skill gap that separates beginners from pros. Being able to utilize dodges and jumping to the highest extent can make you almost untouchable, and knowing how to juggle your opponent in the air can spell life or death if the moves you string together are inescapable. If you're a fan of Super Smash Bros then this is a good pickup for you. Supporting local play too means you can get a group of friends and brawl it out at any time.

“Brawlhalla is a wickedly fun platform brawler with moxie...Crisp combat mechanics, adorable fighters, streamlined stages, A+ online play.” Kotaku

“With pay-to-win nowhere to be seen and exceedingly good online play, this is one free-to-play title that’s well worth a try.” Push Square

“This fighting game feels so fluid online, it’s almost as if you are sitting right next to your opponents on the couch.” PlayStation LifeStyle

Choose this Game if you like:

Many Game Modes - Mix things up with Brawlball, Bombsketball, Capture the Flag, Kung-Foot, and many more fun party game modes.

The Training Room - Practice combos and setups inside the Training Room! Look at detailed frame data, hitboxes, hurtboxes, and sharpen your skills.

Online Ranked 2v2 - Climb the ranked ladder with a friend! Matches you and a partner against teams near your skill level. Your friend can be online or right next to you.

Fun Factor Score: 90/100

1. Killer Instinct - 2013 (Xbox One, PC)

Killer Instinct Launch Trailer. A different Beast on Next Gen

The legendary fighting franchise is back with over-the-top action, a wild cast of combatants, rocking reactive music, and C-C-C-COMBO BREAKERS!!! Choose your ultimate combatants each with fluid animations, unique combat tactics, and enthralling special attacks. Use the open-ended combo system to rack up huge combos as your opponent looks for openings to break you and turn the tides of battle. Go online and compete against players from all over the world, or master your combat skills with in-depth tutorials and intelligent AI combatants.

Killer Instinct has a very dark aesthetic, but it still has no shortage of female characters to choose from. Armor-clad Vampire Mira and her dangerous claws, Orchid and her stylish light staffs and short shorts will have you hitting Killer Instinct’s trademark lengthy combos all day and enjoying a view at the same time.

“Killer Instinct's combat is fluid, deep, and well informed by the mistakes of its predecessors.”  - IGN

“It's a fighter that manages to be accessible and fun while encouraging you to experiment with different play-styles and get better.” - Destructoid

“Killer Instinct has a combo-friendly engine that caters to both noobs and pros, incredibly detailed graphics that boast ridiculous particle effects, and an over-the-top announcer who screams your accomplishments at the top of his lungs.” - PC Gamer

Choose this game if you like:

Combos - Double Helix has done a great job of staying true to KI’s roots while also solving the problem of long-form combos being one-way interactions where one person plays while the other watches. Killer Instinct employs an intelligent system of interlocking mechanics to instead make combos a natural extension of the neutral game.

Tutorial -  For beginners, the path to enlightenment begins in Dojo mode, a series of 32 multi-part lessons that cover everything from basic movement and defense to more advanced concepts, like how to read and apply frame data. The information is presented in an easily digestible way, with well-written descriptions accompanied by CPU demonstrations. It amounts to two or three hours of content, and by the time you’re done you won’t just understand Killer Instinct – you’ll understand fighting games.

Survival - An endless survival mode stands in for the absent arcade mode as Killer Instinct’s de facto way to pummel a string of CPU opponents. There’s also a long list of increasingly difficult optional trials to complete that net you points to unlock tons of extra goodies.

Fun Factor Score: 95/100

Killer Instinct has some of the most outrageous characters and wild combos of any fighting game. Who doesn't want to put a giant reptilian boot to the chest of a flaming demon man.

From resting at the flames of Firelink Shrine, to training for the King of Iron Fist tournament, I am always seeking the next challenge. Read along and join me on my next adventure.
