Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: Release Date, Cast and Story
A New Superhero Movie Is In Town
Superhero movies are more relevant now than ever before. These movies are packed with masked crime fighters trying to save their city, or the entire country, from the forces that wish to cause harm. Guardians Of The Galaxy however, is different.
It features a fun cast of lovable characters with witty charm as they try to save the galaxy. Their journey continues in an upcoming sequel. All the questions you are asking will be answered and more.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Release Date
A month before the movie would be released in the United States, a sequel had already been announced and was planned for release at July 28, 2017. Director and co-screenwriter James Gunn commented on how he would like to add another guardian from the original comics. Gunn then announced in the following months that all five guardians of the first film would return. This time the release date would be pushed to May 5, 2017, which is still the current release date.
If the amazing Vol. 1 didn’t already convince you, Guardians Of The Galaxy is a journey unlike that of any superhero films today. Witty, brilliant, fun, and a whole lot more has made Guardians Of The Galaxy a series you don’t want to miss out on. Seriously, baby Groot is going to be in it. What more reason could you need?
Just look at him. He's just begging you to come and see him.
Cast
Guardians of the Galaxy 1 was a box office hit as the budget to make the movie was a little above $200 million, and it made over $700 million.
It was the highest grossing superhero movie of 2014. It received nothing short of critical acclaim for its brilliant soundtrack, humor, action, and much more. The superhero marvel film differed from others such as Spider Man or Avengers as the story revolved around an explorer rather than a masked crusader.
Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel are in this picture if you look hard enough.
Chris Pratt was the main lead character as he played Peter Quill, a character who Pratt himself said is a mixture of Hans Solo and Marty Mcfly.
Other notable cast members include Zoe Saldana as a green assassin named Gamora, former WWE wrestler Batista as a tattooed warrior looking for vengeance named Drax, and Vin Diesel who did the voiceover for Groot who is basically a walking talking tree. I can't make this stuff up. Zoe Saldana plays the ever so green Gamora while Bradley Cooper voices for Rocket the racoon. It's an interesting dynamic to say the least.
Trailers
One of the most watched teasers of all time.
The first teaser for the film would be released in early December of 2016. The trailer was all fans could hope for as it showed the same crude humor and breathtaking cinematics that helped make the first one so loved.
The teaser also introduced what seems to be a mini version of Groot, and that in itself justifies seeing the movie. The sequel was so anticipated that the teaser for Vol.2 ended up becoming one of the most watched teasers of all time. With such a likeable cast and incredible presentation, it’s not hard to see why.
The trailer that had everyone talking during the Super Bowl.
The second teaser trailer was played during the Super Bowl. The scene with Rocket and Groot being the stand out moment.
It received acclaim and ended up being the most talked about thing during the Super Bowl on twitter, beating out other hit Pirates Of The Caribbean. A survey was given by Fandango asking fans what their favorite movie trailer was from the Super Bowl.
The winner ended up being Guardians Of The Galaxy. On February 28, 2017 edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Chris Pratt came from the audience to present the world premiere trailer for the film.
Pratt came to Jimmy Kimme Live! to deliver it to the audience.
Story
The story helped Pratt in his personal life and get some much needed closure.
Not much has been said about the story aside from that it will be set a few months after the original.
Gunn has stated that the film will focus more on the individual characters, thus making it both a smaller movie as well as a bigger one.
One thing to know is that the movie will definitely have its tear jerking moments. Pratt admitted that reading through the script not only brought tears to his eyes, but also made him come to terms with the death of his father.
The movie is also going to expand upon the relationship between Gamora and Nebula. Nebula is the adopted daughter of Thanos and raised alongside Gamora. The film will further dive into the relationship between these two and what caused them to split apart.
We’ll also get to see just what Thanos did to Nebula and how it affected her emotionally. Characters trying to come to grips with who they are and regain emotional composure will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
WWE Wrestler Batista found that the character he played was often misunderstood, just like himself.
Drax is one of the most interesting characters of the franchise as he is a brute who is surprisingly hilarious. Batista commented on this himself, stating that most people think Of Drax just as a muscle brute, but this despite this has a sense of innocence and is funny and driven.
Rocket the raccoon will also have his room for development as he begins to accept who he is as well as accepting his new found friends.
Baby Groot is the one that will definitely be turning the most heads. Why is Groot a baby? Why is a baby apart of these galactic space battles? These are all questions that many fans have and they definitely make sense.
Johnathan Schwartz, executive producer, stated that the movie will look into just who this baby Groot really is. Is he the same Groot but smaller? Is he different Groot all together? These are all questions that will be answered and help make the movie a must see.
Building On A Fantastic Sound
Guardians Of The Galaxy has an amazing soundtrack. No denying that. The soundtrack of the first film has received widespread acclaim as it deserves. Peter is a huge music fan as is shown in some of the most interesting ways.
Classic music is a contributing factor to the fun of the movie so it's only reasonable that fans would wonder whether it would return or not in the sequel. Luckily it looks like fans have nothing to worry about.
The retro style cover for the well thought out soundtrack.
Gunn came to the San Diego Comic Con and with him presented a trailer for all those in attendance. One of the tracks played in the trailer was “Come A Little Bit Closer” by Jay and the Americans, a hit song in the 60’s. The second song was “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac. These songs truly capture what made Guardians Of The Galaxy so special in the first place.
Another song that may make it into the finalized version of the movie is “My Sweet Lord” by George Harrison. Gunn spoke on the soundtrack for the sequel stating how it was like an evolution of the original. He also stated how their was going to be songs that were extremely well known to the public as well as songs that not many know about or ever heard. The music in the past movie was used apart of the movie itself, so it will be interesting to see whether Vol. 2 will be doing the same.
The Hype Is Real
The cast has impeccable chemistry and complement each other very well. The soundtrack is phenomenal and gives a shout out to groovy classic music. The trailers have done a great job at building the movie up as must see. The relationships and motives of the characters will be further built upon adding development to the cast of lovable galactic heroes. The first installment blew fans and critics away and you better expect the second will do the same.
