Madden 19 Review - Read Before You Buy

I will be reviewing this game in a fair and unbiased point of view and will not be making my own judgements on this game without giving it a chance. I will not state anything false about this game or its developers nor will not use my opinions to promote this game.

About Madden 19

Ladies and Gentlemen, the game I am reviewing today is Madden 19. Madden 19 is an american Football game that allows you to play like you’re on the team too. The game lets you play on all 32 NFL teams. You can play as a coach, an existing player in the NFL, or you can even own an organization through Madden 19. In Career Mode, you can create a player that will play in all 16 games in the NFL season.

Madden 19 was released on August 10, 2018, and it was developed by EA Tiburon. On Madden 19, Pittsburgh Steelers, Wide Receiver Antonio Brown, can be seen on all covers. With Madden 19, you don’t have to worry about the kids seeing anything inappropriate because it is rated E for Everyone.

There has been mixed reactions to Madden 19. One of the most recent reactions from this game was back on August 26, 2018, when a shooter opened fire during a livestream tournament in Jacksonville, Florida. Eli ‘Trueboy’ Clayton and Taylor ‘Spotmeplzzz’ Robertson were the two that died from this tragedy and many others were injured because of the shooting.

There have been other criticisms from the release of Madden 19. Before they released Madden 19, the game had censored former San Francisco 49ers Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick from the game’s soundtrack. EA added an update to the game which had his name on the soundtrack.

The Madden franchise is still very popular today. The franchise has sold 130 million copies since it first launced in 1988. Nobody can say that this game is dying anytime soon. It is in the top ten for one of the bestselling games in August 2018. Most Madden games take a year to develop, as the same for Madden 19.

Madden 19 Story

The story mode in Madden 19 is the sequel of Madden 18. Longshot: Homecoming is about the two friends from the story mode in Madden 18 and it shows Colt Cruise and Devin Wade’s journey as they try to make the NFL. The story focuses on Colt’s and Devin’s High School and College Football careers. Most of the story in the game is about Colt. Devin does make it on to the Dallas Cowboys, but he doesn’t get much playing time.

In the story mode, you get a good look at the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey last year and how it impacted Mathis High School. You get to see the character, Loretta, trying to get fund money to fix the stadium after the hurricane destroyed it. The story in Madden 19 doesn’t let the player control much of it. You cannot interact with the plays on the field and you can’t pick the plays either. There is more play time to the High School games at Mathis than there is with the NFL.

I hope when they make the next Madden, everyone will get to find out what happens with Colt’s NFL dreams. The main question is does Colt ever get to play in the NFL? The sequel to the first one doesn’t allow you to see what happens in the end. The story in the sequel is ok, but you wish they would’ve added more and you hope you get to see what’s next for Colt and Devin.

Madden 19 Gameplay

The gameplay in Madden 19 is great because you can create your own player to play in all 16 NFL games. You can also use this player to play with in the playoffs. In Madden 19, you can create your own name for the player you create. There are ratings and settings you can set for your created player. You can also play with current NFL players in these games.

There is also a Hall Of Fame edition for Madden 19. On the cover of the Hall Of Fame edition, there is a picture of former Dallas Cowboys Wide Receiver, Terrell Owens. A Dallas Cowboys fan would love to own this game with the Hall Of Fame edition and the story mode referencing there team a lot.

The great thing about Madden 19 is that you can finally make draft classes and you can create as much as you want. You can also create MUTs on Madden 19. With MUT, you can pick to play with Solo Battles or CPU. Squads can be chosen to play with these options too.

There are new player ratings on Madden 19. These player ratings come into play when it comes to passes, runs, blocks, and sacks. Antonio Brown is the newest player to get a 99 player rating on Madden 19. There are 7 players on Madden 19 that have this same rating. The other 6 players are the same from Madden 18.

In Madden 19, you can relocate your team to 19 different cities with owner mode. You can pick what you want your stadium to look like. You have a budget in owner mode on Madden 19 that shows what you have to work with. In owner mode, you can also get questions to answer to the media.

On Madden 19, you can pick to play at all 32 NFL stadiums and you also get to play at where the Super Bowl is held in 2019. You also still have fans that cheer or boo at you when you’re playing the game. Talk about sore losers for fans, am I right?

Even though I have given a lot of good information about this game, unfortunately there are some needed areas of improvement. There are times when you call a play and then, the player gets out of bounds more than he should. So many other versions of Madden have this same problem too. It is something that no player would do in a real life game unless he lost his brain.

A big area that needs improvement is the CPU play calling. There are times that a CPU can make dumb calls during a game. It doesn’t challenge the player enough and it can be frustrating.

The CFM in Madden 19 needs some improvements. Madden 19 doesn’t do a good job with showing injury information on the NFL players. Injuries can also happen a lot with some NFL players during a game.

Commentary can be a letdown in Madden 19. The commentators are like mindless monkeys when it comes to repeating words. Some of the same old lines are used in this game from previous versions. The commentary in this game can get annoying at times when you are playing. The commentators need to listen to themselves for once and think twice about their lives.

Madden 19 Multiplayer

With Madden 19, you can play multiplayer online and offline. You can play with other players all over the world. On Madden 19, you can play your team and the other player plays on the other team. With multiplayer, it is a lot more challenging because you don’t have to worry about the CPU picking bad plays.

The multiplayer feature is fun because you can play with an actual human and you don’t have to play alone. The CPU on Madden 19 can get boring because they will keep trying to beat you when they can’t. Experts that have played Madden before will have an easy time beating the CPU. Your friend will give you better commentary than the announcers too.

Madden 19 Quest/Mission System

The adventure in Madden 19 is no different than past Maddens. You basically play all 16 NFL games in a season. You better be good or else no playoffs for you in Madden 19. You still get to play more seasons after you are done with the 2018 season. Madden 19 has no different number of games in a season.

It is exciting to get to play all of these games because you get to choose the outcome. It’s simple, if you play bad, you get the loss. If you play good, you get the win. It is easy to go undefeated in this game as long as you know what you are doing.

A good example of playing bad would be that you choose stupid plays and you make a lot of mistakes in the game. Playing good would mean that you have to always make smart plays. If you do that, you will win all the time. Never let the opponents on the other team intimidate you. It’s your choice and you should have fun with it.

Madden 19 Graphics

The graphics in Madden 19 look real good, and looks better than Madden 18. It looks like a clean game and the uniforms are not pixelated compared to past versions. I personally love the graphics in Madden 19. I think the game looks more colorful and realistic compared to Madden 18.

The faces and arms are more realistic in Madden 19 compared to Madden 18. The stadium and the sounds of fans are more realistic in Madden 19. The uniforms have more detail than past Maddens and the football is more visible in Madden 19.

Madden 19 Developer

EA Tiburon developed Madden 19 and EA Sports published it. Madden 19 got buggy and the gamers reported the problem to the developers. There is clock mess-ups in the 4th quarter of the game.

If you kneel the ball 3 times, the clock resets and you have to give the ball back to the other team. It mostly does this when you are doing super skim. Every time the clock messes up, the super skim brings you back to the game. This can be annoying when you want to finish the game quicker.

One of the most annoying bugs in Madden 19 is name changing a player. If you want to change the player’s name, the announcer doesn’t call the player’s new name. He just calls the player, "number".

EA Tiburon has listened somewhat to the community. They apologized about removing Colin Kaepernick’s name from one of the songs in the game. In an update, they added his name back on the soundtrack after the criticism.

So far after the release of Madden 19, they have added a couple updates a month. There haven’t been any huge updates with the game since its first day on the market.  It has been only a month since it has been released, so we will see where they go with it from there. If you go to Madden’s help page on EA Sport’s website, you can ask them a question and you should get help there.

Madden 19 Price

Most stores have Madden 19 priced at $39.99. The Hall Of Fame edition will cost you around $80. Madden 19 is available on PlayStation 4, XBOX One, and Microsoft Windows. This is the first time you can buy Madden to play on your PC since Madden 08. There are pay to win elements with Madden Ultimate Teams and there are in game purchases with Madden 19.
