Your enemies can fight back so you have to make sure you have more than enough power to take them out. This means choosing your puzzle matches carefully to ensure you get the best sequence and greatest power each time you match.

Now you can use coins collected to increase your character’s abilities. This becomes useful when your opponents get bigger and you need to pack way more punch to win. If you don’t have coins though, you may have to watch ads in order to increase strength and stamina.

Here are 3 reasons why you should play this game:

• You enjoy puzzles and like to improve your critical thinking skills.
• You love junk food. And if you’re on a diet and can’t eat it, you can certainly play with it in this game.

Beat Street is a fun, side scrolling beat ‘em up game. It has the feel of a 90s game but the graphics make it more modern. Think Super Mario World and you would get an idea about the game’s vibe.

In this game, there’s a gang terrorizing Toko City. You take on a character and defend the city in this fast-paced fighting game.

One of the cool things about the game is that you collect a chest every day. It contains items that you can use in future game play. That’s a great incentive to go back and play again.

Here are 3 reasons why you should play this game:

• You enjoy retro video games. The graphics and gameplay should appeal to you.
• You like going on missions and completing tasks. That adds another level to the game.

After every five rounds of play, you will meet a Shadow Boss. Players need to be creative and skilful in defeating the boss in order to go on to the next level.

With 3 modes of difficulty, there is sure to be a mode that appeals to every level of player.

The gameplay is smooth and sleek as you slash devils and meet bosses. 

Play this game if you:

• Enjoy Fantasy. This game’s concept is set in a Fantasy world that is sure to keep you entertained as you battle different types of creatures.
• Love great graphics. The background of the game is bright while the fighters are darker and more gritty. The contrast is impactful and ties back to the Fantasy concept.
• Like hack and slash games. For those who require more than hand to hand combat, you should enjoy slashing your enemies to death.

Fun factor wise I’d give this game 81/100.

12. Maximus 2

Released in 2022 by Four Fats Ltd.

Mayhem and carnage.

This game is pure medieval mayhem that reminds you of an 80s beat ‘em up video game. What’s interesting to note is that the scenes don’t change from stage to stage. 

As you side scroll it’s one single, continuous shot where characters enter into an animated transition to the next area. That’s pretty neat and helps keep the idea of a journey.

You can play as a solo player. You can also play 4 player co-op in real time: online with other players or on the same device with Bluetooth controllers. 

You have your pick of 6 heroes - the tank, the wrestler, the magician, the outlaw, the healer and the ninja. They each have their own special weapons and abilities. 

One fun aspect of this game is what happens to enemies after they die. They don’t disappear like in other games. Instead, they fall to the streets and add to the carnage of the fighting. Brutal indeed.

Choose this game if you:

• Enjoy old school beat ‘em up games.
• Love a good brawl. There are so many enemies to fight you may end up beating your own self! 
• Are new to beat ‘em up games. The game shows your moves in the top left corner and the corresponding buttons.  It helps you to remember what each button does at all times.

I’d give this game 82/100 for the fun factor score.

11. Street Kungfu: King Fighter

Released in 2019 by Super Dragon Legends PVP.

They nailed it with that caption.

This game is indeed hilarious. It starts with a warrior who is walking the streets with his friend. Out of the blue a car pulls up and snatches his friend. I guess they didn’t know who they were messing with.

The warrior is now angry and goes after the kidnappers. But he meets enemies out in the streets.

There are six characters with various skill fighting abilities and specialties.

• Lee is the Street KungFu Master.
• Stone is the Street WWF Master.
• Rocky is known as the Street Boxing Master.
• Fuji’s character is the Street Ninja Warrior.
• Benny is a Street Fighter Warrior.
• Lady is also a Street Fighter Warrior.

The gameplay may not be as fast as other beat ‘em games but one thing this game is big on is the fun factor. As enemies are defeated some are thrown toward your screen. They land, crack the glass and stick before sliding away. Too funny.

Play this game if you:

• Enjoy MMA. The different characters display different fighting styles that should appeal to you.
• Love humor in your gameplay. You will crack a smile or two as you beat enemies.
• Like collecting items and having the chance to upgrade your characters. 

Fun wise this game would score 83/100.

10. Sword Hunter

Released in 2021 by Potato Play.

No mystery about what her blades can do.

Sword Hunter is a fast-paced, action packed hack and slash game. Join the Mystery Girl as she uses her swords to defend her city from thugs and rival gangs. 

As you play you earn swords with different special powers. At different stages of the game you are given options to choose from before moving forward. You could increase health by 30% or maybe increase your attack damage by 5, for example.

Enemies are crude and use the streets to attack you. Some carry steel beams while others ride motorcycles and try to run you over with them. And you better watch out for the car-carrying dude as well.

Your character can also be equipped and upgraded with new gear. There is always something new and cool to see in Sword Hunter.

Choose this game if you:

• Love hacking and slashing your enemies. There are plenty to fight.
• Enjoy collecting items and earning upgrades on your skills, abilities and appearance.
• Like cool graphics and fast gameplay. You would almost miss the action as you brawl.

I’d give Sword Hunter a fun factor score of 85/100.

9. Kung Fu Attack: Final Fight

Released in 2021 by Hs Soft.

Everybody was Kung Fu fighting.

This game is straight beat ‘em up Kung Fu style. You battle bad guys on the street who terrorize the lovely Ann.

The game gives you a Training Mode where you can practice your fighting techniques. You can also use different fighting styles to win. Simply exhaust your enemy by blocking him or moving faster while attacking.

The side scrolling screen and 2D graphics give it a 90s beat ‘em up game vibe.

Play this game if you:

• Enjoy Kung Fu. The fighting is more like Kung Fu than street brawling.
• Are new to beat ‘em up games. There is no pressure to learn combos which makes the gameplay much easier than other beat ‘em up games.
• Enjoy being a hero. Lee’s character takes on thugs who harass a young girl. This will appeal to players who enjoy being the hero in a story.

Fun factor wise I’d give this game 85/100.

8. Stickman - KungFu Master

All that’s missing is his hat.

Stickman: KungFu Master is a hack and slash game with lots of hardcore weapon play and enemies to beat.

Cast your mind back to your stickman drawing days and imagine your artwork brought to life for this era. The graphics are dark and eye-catching.The gameplay is smooth and easy.

As stages are completed you are given options for the next stage. Maybe you’ll choose the Super Punch to hit harder. Or the Kill-Recover option might be your best bet.

The game has special characters and special weapon systems. You have to decide which weapons and gameplay strategy are best for the current battle.

Play this game if you:

• Enjoy smooth gameplay and easy to use fighting moves.
• Like KungFu and enjoy watching your character use this fighting style.
• Like dark games and cool graphics.

In your nightmares.

Downfall has an intriguing concept. You suffer from nightmares and must delve deep into your mind to find the source. And then you deal with them.

This game is a fast paced hack and slash game. You dodge enemies in the dark realm of your nightmares and kill them with your weapon. The enemies come at all angles at any time. You need to be ready for anything.

The graphics really help with the vibe. The further away you are from one side of the screen, the darker it is in that area. You can’t tell if a demon is lurking in the shadows. 

It really feels like a nightmare that you are trying to overcome. Add in a tombstone or two and it’s downright creepy. The consistency is maintained with the theme, artwork and feel.

Play this game if you: 

• Enjoy Fantasy. This is high-concept Fantasy as you battle devils, demons and monsters in the nightmare world.
• Enjoy a hack and slash game.
• Like dark, gritty artwork and graphics.

6. Shadow of Death 2: RPG Games

Clash of the shadows.

Aurora was known for its magic and swordsmanship. Then King Luther XV caused an apocalypse which brought forth shadow legends. This threw Aurora into darkness. The Shadow Knights in Aurora are now fighting for their country’s freedom against the immortal Diablo.

This hack and slash game is very visually stimulating, dark and gritty. As you play you get the chance to change your character’s appearance. You can become Soul Knight, Shadow Fight, Death Assassin, Dark Crusader or Rift Warden. The effects are mesmerizing.

Your equipment can be upgraded with essences and blood. As you climb to mastery level you claim skill points. This in turn increases the power of your skills in your equipment.

You can also play offline which is great as you take your device anywhere that you go. 

Choose this game if you:

• Love Fantasy. The game’s concept has great Fantasy elements as you battle devils and demons.
• Enjoy hack and slash games with great combos and visually stimulating graphics.
• Like quests. Apart from slashing demons you also complete quests which help you to level up.

I’d give this game a fun factor score of 88/100.

You can also play in a 4 player game where four fighters enter but only one can win.

Enjoy different modes like Brawlball, Capture the Flag and Kung-Foot. These cross-play party games are fun and fast paced.

This game has so much to do you will be kept busy for hours. Explore maps in the game, compete in a brawl-of-the-week and practice your combos in Training Rooms.

KOF ALLSTAR packs a lot of punch in this 3D beat ‘em up game.

You create a team of the best fighters. The reason? 

To compete in a tournament for the best fighting champion in the world. The gameplay is fast and action-packed. Combos are fantastic and special moves do serious damage to opponents.

This game combines all of the fighters from previous versions of KOF (from ‘94 to XV). With over 200 characters to choose from, both old and new, you have a great shot at creating the strongest team.

Play this game if you:

• Already love the KOF series and want a chance to have all of your favorite players in one game.
• Enjoy 3D beat ‘em up games. The characters feel more real as you battle your way to victory.
• Enjoy playing against other gamers across the world. You can battle them for true champion bragging rights in Arena, League Match and Tournament modes.

What a brave lad indeed!

Grimvalor is a dark Fantasy game with hack and slash features. These are sure to keep you entertained for hours.

In the Kingdom of Vallaris there is a wicked power that rises up. And the king is lost. Your quest is to find out what happened to him. But then you’re thrown into darkness. 

You are surrounded and outnumbered by vicious creatures. Your only way out is with your sword and valor. 

This game is full of quests and dangerous missions through dark dungeons and landscapes. You explore the broken lands of Vallaris as you find and upgrade equipment and level up your character.

Choose this game if you:

• Love Fantasy. The fantasy elements will keep you entertained throughout the game.
• Like 3D games. Grimvalor has great 3D graphics that give the game a more realistic feel.
• Enjoy hacking and slashing your enemies to death. 

Fun factor wise I’d give this game 92/100.

2. Smash Legends

Released in 2021 by 5minlab Corp.

These fairytale characters are truly grim.

Fairytales are supposed to be cute and sweet. But not on Smash Legends. This game has reimagined well-known fairytale characters from the Library World. And they are vicious.

These characters are brutal as they play games like Team Touchdown. Characters play in teams to get a target in the other team’s section. 

The target has a circle around it. When a character steps into the circle it glows in that team’s color. And the target starts to move to the opponent’s side. 

But you better be careful. Your opponents are coming fast and furious to hack and slash you out of the circle so they can take the target into your own section.

You can also play Dominion mode where you have missions like capturing a contested area. In Battle Royale it's free for all. You and 7 other players battle to become the last man standing.

You can also Duel 1 on 1 with another player in a test of skills.

This game is fast paced and loads of fun. No matter which mode you play, these quick, action packed games are sure to keep you entertained for a long time.

Choose to play Smash Legends if you:

• Like sports and want the chance to play a version of football against other players.
• Are competitive. The ability to slash opponents on your quest to secure an area or win a tournament should delight you.
• Love great graphics and gameplay features.

Shadow Knight: Ninja Game War is a great beat ‘em up game. But you don’t just beat ‘em…you also slash and shoot ‘em too. Players fight in a shadow war against different shadow enemies. 

In this game, Harmonia was once a land where different species like Humans, Orcs and Elves lived in harmony. Then tragedy came and darkness arose.

Shadow Warriors are needed to fight the monsters and immortal enemies. Then light will return to Harmonia.

As you play and unlock levels you can choose to fight either as a ninja, a warrior or a samurai. Each one has a different weapon and skill set. You can change back and forth between them as needed based on the type of enemy that you are fighting.

Special attacks and character changes are on a timer though, so make sure you use your skills and survive until you can make another change. 

You also complete missions in the game in order to earn gems, energy and keys. Use the items earned to increase your level and skill. At the end of each stage completed you can see how your Attack, Magic Power, Armor and Magic Resistance have increased.

The game’s graphics are fantastic and the action is fast paced.

Play this game if you:

• Like quests and missions. These will keep you busy as you hack and slash your enemies.
• Enjoy Fantasy. This game is based on high-concept Fantasy elements which include magic and shadow monsters.
• Love smooth gameplay and great graphics. The game is dark but with bursts of color is the background and the heroes’ weapons. The contrast is great and works well with the Fantasy elements of the game.

For the fun factor I’d give this game 94/100.
