2022 produced some nice fresh games that fans have been waiting for and others that will become a new favorite. There were action games, RPG games, strategy games, etc. Here is a top 10 on the best RPGs of 2022. (Just incase you forgot or need a refresher)

10. Citizen Sleeper 

Year released May 5th 2022 (macOS, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S) 

Citizen sleeper is a dice rolling RPG game kinda like dungeons and dragons but without the spells and medieval setting. It's a singleplayer game that focuses more on the narrative as you take on the role as a machine/robot who has a copy and pasted human brain. 

What's interesting about this game is the art style the developers decided to go with. It has a cartoon fantasy vibe to it almost like borderlands. (Not 100% though as this game's style is unique in its own way) Another interesting thing about this game is the narrative: the story behind why you take on the role you do and why the setting is the way it is gets you invested and curious to know why. 

In my opinion the game is fun to play if you're someone who's busy or has the time to manage all that's happening. The dice mechanic is cool because you use 6 of them to do things throughout the day to complete tasks, for example to make money.

Choose This Game If You Like : 

• Dungeon and dragon type games.
• Roleplay with a bit of massive strategy. You use the dice to perform actions and you get to build your own character
• Cartoonish art styles. Most of the characters have it and is one part of what makes this game unique. 

The features for this game include action dice: For every time you role you assign that dice an action on the station, ticking clocks: These track you and others actions on the station, and lastly drives and skill: You don't have quests in this game but drives to follow.

Before Emphis came to the Eye he signed up to be a part of Conway Extractions, the bone suits weren't good so now he sells fungus for 12 cryo apiece.

9. Babylon's Fall

Year Released March 3rd, 2022 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows)

Babylon's Fall is an action role playing game from the third person perspective that lets you play as a sentinel who has to climb this massive tower. Overall it's a fantasy rpg game with choices and over 50+ hours of gameplay. 

What's interesting about Babylon's fall is that it's actually been rated by many as one of the worst RPG games for 2022 and for a lot of reasons. However some may still find this enjoyable and fun as it's ultimately the players choice on whether to play it.  

In my opinion the graphics are sub par at best and with over 50+ hours it's not terrible when it comes to things to do or quests to partake in. I find it interesting how this could have been a fan favorite, being able to customize your character and more.

Choose This Game If You Like : 

• Classic RPG fantasy. This game has the basics of every fantasy rpg.
• Long campaigns that cant be completed in one sitting.
• Being able to customize your character.

Some of the game features include 4-player online multiplayer, a 4 weapon battle system and “Brushwork Filter” oil painting-style visuals. Though this game was given many negative reviews, fans that still like this game today can have fun with these features.

Babylon has gone through alot as can be seen here and the Knight of the empire along with his team are at the ready.

8. Dying Light 2 Stay Human  

Year released February 4th, 2022 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch)

Dying light 2 is a sequel to the first dying light taking place 22 years after. The story focuses on a new, modern "Dark Ages" for humanity, as we follow a brand new character Aiden. 

What I find fun about this game is the new characters were introduced. I like that we start out with a mystery and a bit of backstory. The doctor that you're looking for is very important to the main character.(without giving any spoilers)

In my opinion I would agree with the developers when they said this game would be more narrative based than the first. I've played the first one and from what I saw with this you feel more connected to the world around you. (meaning it doesn't feel like a open world sandbox)

Choose This Game If You Like : 

• Zombie Survival.
• Having to craft and build different weapons.
• The first game and I want a continuation of it. 

The features for this game include crafting, building survival equipment, looting weapons and surviving the night on an almost real level. Other features include creative and heavy combat as you'll have to think outside the box to get past or defeat most waves of zombies.

Fun Factor Score : 91/100

Aiden has met some interesting people during his journey but this one is just sad. 

7. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

Year Released March 18th 2022 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)

Stranger of Paradise is a dark fantasy interpretation of the setting for the original Final Fantasy game. Jack arrives in the kingdom of Cornelia, intent on destroying Chaos whose darkness has begun to plague the world, and is quickly joined by two other warriors, Ash and Jed. They petition the King of Cornelia to allow them to enter the Shrine of Chaos and destroy Chaos itself. 

What's interesting about this game to be completely honest would be the level design, combat, job variety, tone, and writing. The gameplay is fun to play overall not feeling clunky and the controls are solid. 

Final Fantasy origin is great because it goes backwards in time and gives us reasons and answers for the others. This game isn't for everyone; the story and one-dimensional NPCs don't pay off until the final hours, but the freedom available in its challenging combat and extensive character customization is consistently rewarding from the start.

Choose This Game If You Like : 

• The final fantasy franchise and what it's become as of recently.
• Following Jack and wanting to see what he's up to next.
• Being able to use magical abilities with most of your attacks.

Some features for this game include the following: Instant abilities, If you block an ability with a purple name using the soul shield, you can then use that ability yourself. And lastly Action Abilities, damage on an enemy’s break gauge; they can deplete the maximum capacity of that break gauge too. 

Fun Factor Score : 92/100 

Jack, consumed by the need to destroy chaos, casts the blessing of light on most Harpys and demonic foe.

6. Diablo Immortal

Year Released Summer of 2022 (Android, iOS, Windows)

Diablo Immortal is a free-to-play, MMO action role-playing video game and is set between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III. The Demon Hunter, or Crusader – must locate and destroy hidden shards of the Worldstone, to prevent Skarn, the Lord of Damnation, from destroying the world of Sanctuary.

What's interesting about this game are all the classes you can play as. The raid farming and boss battles are great with a group of friends and rewarding at times (Its challenging sometimes but that's the fun in it)

In my opinion Diablo has always been a go to when it came to MMO’s back in the day and with this newest one i see nothing but fun times, laughs and unfortunately raging. I like the clans they have in this one. There is a new update that could change clans forever so I'm interested to see what that will bring.

Choose This Game If You Like : 

• Playing with your friends and using teamwork.
• Huge mmos that constantly updates.
• Character building and joining different clans.

The game features for Diablo include;  a "Class Change" system, auto-aim, (generally towards the nearest enemy) The "Helliquary" which is a feature that unlocks by player level 45. Other features can also form temporary parties of up to four players, or create more permanent "Warbands" of up to 8 players. There are many more to find out.

Fun Factor Score : 95/100

Bosses such as this raid right here are best handled in groups of 8 preferably a group that doesn't all have the same abilities.

5. God of War Ragnarök

Year Released November 9th, 2022 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5)

God of War Ragnarok is the latest installment of the God of War series. The gameplay is similar to the previous and this time taking place three years after the previous game. Ragnarök sees the player exploring each of the nine realms but unlike the game before it you get to explore all nine as its part of the story. 

The gameplay is very interesting, however using the same combat style as the last Kratos gets more abilities and the OG ones fans enjoy. What I was very pleased with was being able to explore all nine realms before you could explore only six. Kratos still feels like his original self, for example during fights with enemies you get a strong sense for how strong he is. 

In my opinion the detail they added to the buildings, characters and setting looks way better than the previous especially being on the new consoles. Also the mythology in this story makes me want to learn more about it, during the beginning of the game Thor arrives with Odin to battle kratos then he and his son go to asgard. (Briefly summarizing it)

Chose This Game If You Like : 

• Greek Mythology. With characters like Thor and Odin there's a lot to learn if you're up for it.
• The God of War Franchise. 
• Games with little to no cut scenes.

The features for this game include navigation, traversal, and various movement actions along with an open world. Some more features also include an over-the-shoulder free camera and has few to no cuts or cutscenes giving you a one and go experience. 

Fun Factor Score : 97/100

Kratos being a former God of War still has a hard time holding back the power stored in Thor's hammer.

4. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands

Year released March 25th, 2022 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S) 

Tiny Tina’s Wonderland is a spinoff game from the Borderlands series. Set after Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep the campaign is in the same fantasy world as the DLC. The story starts with Valentine, Frette, and the player, known as The Newbie, about to defeat the Dragon Lord. The Dragon Lord uses his magic to raise the undead, but is stopped by Butt Stallion, wielding the Sword of Souls. (Yeahh this game is Tina’s now expect craziness)

What was interesting to me was the same graphics and gameplay that was in the DLC, it's like if you continued the dlc or…if it was its own game. What stood out gameplay wise the the magic grenades and different weapons they added this go around which are a lot more common to get throughout the game.

In my opinion this game should definitely be played with your friends. (Solo is ok but you won't have the same amount of fun) Another thing i like is the 4th world break that happens. For example when the dragon lord talks to the player he lets you know that he's fully aware this is all a game. (Its just cool to get that game inside a game experience)

Choose This Game If You Like : 

• The DLC from borderlands 2 and wish there was more
• To collect rarity type weapons and farm for legendaries.
• Tina’s character. Pandora is home to many insane people but Tina takes the cake.

The features from this game include trading, looting rarity type weapons, driving vehicles, playing with up to 4 players, and character design(letting you change the outfit of your newbie)

Fun Factor Score : 98/100 

The Newbie just needs to remember it's all a part of the game, his teammate is down and his mushroom companions are doing the best they can.

3. Elden Ring 

Year released - February 25th, 2022 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S) 

Elden Ring is an action role-playing game played in third person, with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration. It features elements similar to those found in other games such as the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Players are allowed to freely explore the Lands Between and its six main areas as you follow the story. 

What's interesting about this game are the different creatures they have and how the third person perspective doest get in the way of gameplay or make it clunky. ( The story for the game is not to be underlooked as it is enjoyable and interesting to get into. 

In my opinion the gameplay does play like dark souls and has elements of creativity with the quests you can go on.  

Choose This Game If You Like : 

• Third person adventure games that have excitement to it but are challenging. 
• If you're a player who likes exploring catacombs for loot or just to raid that one boss. 

Game features for Elden Ring include open world areas, hidden dungeons, such as catacombs, tunnels, and caves where players can fight bosses and gather helpful items. The player chooses a character class at the start of the game, which determines their starting spells, equipment, and attributes.

Fun Factor Score : 89/100 

This knight/adventurer only has a sword and shield but his will power will be more than enough for this creature.

2. Gotham Knights

Year Released October 21st, 2022 (PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S) 

Gotham Knights is an action role-playing game set in an open world. The game is set in Gotham City after the deaths of Bruce Wayne and Commissioner Gordon. Players assume the role of four of Batman's former protégés Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin and Red Hood as they attempt to continue his legacy by protecting Gotham upon receiving a pre-recorded message from Batman. 

What's interesting about this game is how you don't play as batman for once! The only games where you could use his proteges were the arkham series and even then it was only for challenges or certain parts in the story.  

In my opinion Gotham knights gameplay was not what i was expecting but it's still enjoyable having fun missions and being able to go across gotham like never before. 

Choose This Game If You Like : 

• The Arkham series. While this does not follow the events right after the previous game it is in the same universe. 
• Playing as other characters from the bat family but fully. You can play the story of each of the characters listed above. 
• The open world and wanting to see more of gotham without the joker. This game takes place while the joker is gone so the player gets to see how the city reacts to such a disappearance. 

​Some features this game adds just shows how well the city really looks now; those features include a populated city, unique costumes, and the game changes based on the bosses you defeat. 

Fun Factor Score : 94/100

Red hood doest believe in not killing as proven many times this thug is just another who got in the way.

1. Marvel's Midnight Suns

Year released December 2nd, 2022 (PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One) 

Marvel Midnight Sons is a tactical role-playing game that's third person. You get to play as different marvel characters from different properties such as midnight sons, the X-men, the avengers and the runaways. The plot of the story has iron man and doctor strange getting the darkhold from johnny blaze. 

What's interesting about this game are the use of characters that we haven't seen in video games that much (or at all i think) teams such as the runaways for example. With any marvel game you're going to have some type of compelling story to it and midnight suns does just that. Straying away from the avengers video game and the marvel movies this game has elements from the classic comics. 

In my opinion the gameplay could be better. I'd prefer a real time combat but this game makes up for it by giving you and whoevers on your team abilities like iron man for example can use the skill air superiority to wipe out 2 or more enemies. 

Choose This Game If You Like : 

• Playing as some of the OG marvel characters. Punisher, ghost rider, doctor strange, iron man and more can be played. 
• A marvel story that hasn't really been told. This gives players a break from the movies and lets them experience a marvel game separately. More comic based. 
• Turn based real time action. The game has you taking turns for every attack you and your group do.

The features for this game include a turn based system, upgradable cards and characters, and dialogue trees that help shape the hunter's personality. Spontaneous Character Interactions make the world feel more alive which is great for this type of title.

Fun Factor Score : 96/100

Captain marvel is using knee strike to taunt her eneimes while iron man uses his repulsors and other equipment to finish them off.
