[Top 10] Bleach Best Deaths and Why They're Good

Bleach Best Deaths and Why They're Good

Bleach is not particularly known for having a high kill count, since most characters are either too powerful to be defeated or they are spared by their opponents when they lose. However, there are some fights that simply have no other outcome other than the complete annihilation of one opponent. In today's article, we will take a look at some of the best Bleach deaths and why they are so good or satisfying.

10. Giriko Kutsuzawa’s Death

Giriko Kutsuzawa's Death.

With possibly the quickest death in Bleach, Giriko Kutsuzawa has to be the most unlucky villain in the entire story. When Yukio divides all the battles of the Fullbringers and Shinigami into different rooms, Giriko finds himself paired up with Zaraki Kenpachi, who actually preferred to fight Tsukishima.

Giriko takes this comment as a slight to his power, upon which he proceeds to transform into a large, muscular form. However, Kenpachi interrupts his monologue by cutting him in half with zero effort, much to the astonishment of Giriko. The best thing about this fight is how swiftly Kenpachi dispatches his opponent without so much of a fight, as it literally lasted less than 10 seconds.

9. Baraggan Luisenbarn's Death

Baraggan Luisenbarn's Death. Starts at 8:15.

As the second Espada in Aizen's Arrancar army, the King of Hueco Mundo was one of the most formidable opponents to face. Captain Soi Fon and her lieutenant, Marechiyo Omaeda, engage him in the Battle of Fake Karakura Town arc, and he proves his worth as the 2nd Espada when he takes the blunt force of Soi Fon's Bankai without so much as a scratch.

The tables begin to turn, however, after the Vizard, Hachigen Ushoda, arrives, and after a battle of power and strength, the former lieutenant of the Kido Corps outwits him by severing his arm and sealing it in a barrier inside Barragan's stomach, causing him to disintegrate by his own power. The best part of this death is Barragan's arrogance and pride, which is what eventually gets him killed, as he underestimates Hachigen's resolve to defeat him.

8. Nnoitra Gilga's Death

Nnoitra Gilga's Death. Starts at 4:58.

Espada No. 5, Nnoitra Gilga, was among one of the worst, most sadistic Arrancars, so it's no surprise that he is on this list. Having caused Ichigo and Inoue a lot of anguish, he finally meets his match when Zaraki Kenpachi arrives in Las Noches and proceeds to fight the bloodlusty Espada. Soon enough, Nnoitra discovers that he can't overcome his opponent, making him increasingly desperate and agitated.

After Kenpachi deals him a fatal blow and walks away, he taunts him to finish the fight, to which Kenpachi obliges and deals him a second blow that finally kills him. Nnoitra was a detestable, cruel villain who lacked any redeeming quality, and seeing him die drew no sympathy from anyone, not even Ichigo.

7. Ayon's Death

Ayon's Death. Starts at 1:33.

Another in the long list of unlucky villains in Bleach is Ayon, the pet of Tier Harribel's Fracción, who, despite seeming to be a powerful villain that would have caused problems for the Shinigami, found himself going against the worst opponent he could have ever wished for, the Captain Commander of the Gotei 13, Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto. After Yamamoto creates a hole in his chest, Ayon goes berserk, swelling into a huge monster.

Yamamoto then cuts him in half, but Ayon continues to fight, prompting Yamamoto to unsheath his Zanpakuto and release his Shikai, incinerating Ayon with his flames into nothing but ashes. Ayon's death was satisfying because the dense monster couldn't comprehend who he was going against, and he paid for this with his life.

6. Szayelaporro Granz's Death

Szayelaporro Granz's Death. Starts at 8:48.

All the Gotei 13 Captains seemed to have at least one Espada with whom they shared multiple similarities and philosophies, and for Espada No. 8 Szayelaporro Granz, his carbon copy was the 12th Division Captain and President of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute, Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Therefore, when he finds himself paired with a fellow scientist, Szayelaporro discovers that this battle might not go as easily as he expects.

True enough, Szayelaporro makes the mistake of consuming Mayuri's lieutenant Nemu, who has several drugs in her body that cause Szayelaporro to experience time moving incredibly slowly. Szayelaporro, rendered unable to fight, is pierced in the heart with Mayuri's Zanpakuto and dies. His death, just like many others on this list, is satisfying because his own narcissistic nature is what caused his downfall.

5. Zommari Rureaux's Death

Zommari Rureaux's Death. Starts at 7:19.

The 7th Espada, Zommari Rureaux, finds himself in a tricky position when he decides to kill Rukia after she had finished her fight with the 9th Espada, Aaroniero Arruruerie, but the Captain of the 6th Division and Rukia's brother, Kuchiki Byakuya, arrives just in time to save her and become Zommari's opponent. However, his overzealous nature causes him to make the mistake of underestimating his opponent, a mistake that costs him his life.

Zommari would have been spared by Byakuya were it not for the fact that he tried to kill Rukia and take control of her body, and for just this simple fact, Zommari's death is one of the best deaths in the anime.

4. Wonderweiss Margela's Death

Wonderweiss Margela's Death. Starts at 2:52.

Wonderweiss is another victim on the unlucky villain's list, and as no surprise, this is due to his far superior opponent, the Captain-Commander Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto. Although Wonderweiss was created by Aizen to specifically target Yamamoto's abilities, particularly to nullify his Zanpakuto's flames, he still was no match for the veteran Shinigami who has been the head of the Gotei 13 for over 1,000 years.

After he succeeds in sealing the flames of Yamamoto's blade, the Captain Commander proceeds to fight the modified Arrancar using hand-to-hand combat. He eventually uses "Sōkotsu", an advanced combat technique that completely shatters Wonderweiss and kills him. Although Wonderweiss was a pitiful victim of Aizen's psychopathy, his death still ranks as one of the best, simply because it denied Aizen the victory he wanted over the Captain Commander.

3. Aaroniero Arruruerie's Death

Aaroniero Arruruerie's Death. Starts at 6:33.

Aaroniero Arruruerie, the 9th Espada, was the most vengeful of the Espadas and deserved to die horribly. Kuchiki Rukia finds herself facing him, although he plays a dirty trick on her by disguising himself as Kaien Shiba, Rukia's mentor whom she killed, an action that has haunted her since.

Although she hesitates through the entire fight because of the memories triggered by this disguise, she eventually exposes Aaroniero's true form and finally gains the courage and resolve to defeat and kill him. Aaroniero Arruruerie's death is among the best deaths, and it was made even better by Kuchiki Rukia being on the other end of the blade.

2. Ulquiorra Cifer's Death

Ulquiorra Cifer's Death. Starts at 12:24.

Ulquiorra Cifer's death is the only one on this list that wasn't exactly satisfying but necessary because of the threat that the 4th Espada posed to the Shinigami and Kurosaki Ichigo in particular. Having beaten Ichigo more than once and with such ease, Ulquiorra seemed like an invincible foe, and somehow he actually was since Ichigo had to assume a whole different form just to fight with him toe-to-toe.

Eventually, Ichigo defeats him by destroying his ability to regenerate, and although his death is quite emotional, it still makes this list due to the impact it has on Ichigo and his allies and the victory it helps them gain against Aizen ultimately.

1. Grand Fisher's Death

Grand Fisher's Death. Starts at 1:36.

No death was more satisfying than the death of the hollow responsible for Masaki Kurosaki's death, especially since it was delivered by her husband, Ichigo's father, Isshin Kurosaki. Grand Fisher had lured a young Ichigo using a disguise of a woman attempting to jump into a river, and his mother, in trying to protect him, ended up dying at the Hollow's hands.

Years later, Ichigo confronts Grand Fisher, and after defeating him, the Hollow is transformed into an imperfect Arrancar. When he goes back for Ichigo, he finds his father Isshin (in his Shinigami form) waiting for him, and when he attempts to cut him down, Isshin kills him with a single strike from his Zanpakuto.

At last, Grand Fisher's death provides justice to the Kurosaki family, and although it’s not the greatest fight of the series, it is undoubtedly the best death in the series.
