Demon slaying is no walk in the park.

Would you believe it or not, but slaying demons isn't easy. The main characters of these manga know that better than anyone considering defeating demons is pretty much in their main line of work. Check out this list for some great manga with amazing action scenes and riveting plotlines.

10. Fire Force

Fire Force imageStrange things are happeing with the Infernals, but before he can get to them, Shinra will have to get through the Fire Force's inner conflicts.

Shinra Kusakabe is a pyrokinetic with the ability to ignite his feet at will, and he’s set on joining the Fire Force to extinguish Infernals, flaming and violent creatures who were once ordinary humans. Unfortunately, with all its inner conflict, the Fire Force is not everything Shinra hoped it would be, and to make matters worse, irregular Infernal sightings are being reported throughout the city. Shinra will have his hands full dealing with all the challenges both within and outside of the Fire Force. Though some criticize this manga for its cliches, others praise it for being an engaging, entertaining read.

9. Inuyasha

Inuyasha imageThere's a number of demons out to get the Shikon Jewel, which is dangerous for Kagome.

Kagome Higurashi was a normal highschool girl until a demon dragged her down the well of her family’s Shinto Shrine and sent 500 years into the past. Reborn inside her is the wish granting Shikon Jewel, which is what the demon was after. When the jewel is broken, Kagome finds herself working with a hybrid demon named Inuyasha to collect the fragments before someone with bad intentions gets a hold of them. Fans of the manga encourage those who have enjoyed the anime to read it because the manga offers more depth and story.

8. Blue Exorcist

Rin Okumura thought he was an ordinary teenager until demons ambushed him and revealed that he is actually the son of Satan. It turns out that Satan wants Rin to return to Gehenna, his world, so that the two can work together to conquer Assiah, the world of the humans. Rin doesn’t want this and chooses to train as an exorcist so he can protect Assiah instead. This manga features many common troupes found in shounen manga, but that doesn’t make it any less fun of a ride.

7. Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen imageItadori meets many other jujutsu sorcerers after he has gained the power of Sukuna.

Yuuji Itadori is involved in his school’s Occult Club, and one day he and his club members find a dangerous talisman that attracts Curses, supernatural monsters. In order to protect himself, Yuuji and the others around him swallows the talisman, a finger, and gains the power of  an immensely powerful and evil Curse. The sorcerers whose job is to take down these Curses call for Yuuji’s death in order to kill the evil within him, but one of them finds a possible solution that could let Yuuji live life for a while longer. This manga is currently receiving stellar compliments, like being called one of the best new shounen series, and is definitely worth checking out.

Demon Slayer imageAs he struggles to bring back his sister's humanity, Tanjiro learns that even demons have their own stories.

Tanjirou Kamado has been the breadwinner of his family ever since his father died, and one day, to earn a little extra dough, he went down to the local village to sell some charcoal. When he returned home, he was met with the horrible sight of his family brutally murdered, all except for his sister Nezuko who had been turned into a demon. Tanjirou is determined to avenge his family and restore his sister’s humanity, and will become as strong as he needs to be to get the job done in a cruel, unforgiving world. This manga has a great mix of heartfelt and action scenes that make it a manga worth checking out.

5. D. Gray Man

D. Gray Man imageAllen Walker joins forces with others to help prevent the destruction threatened by the Milennium Earl.

The Millennium Earl uses the souls of the dead that have been revived in order to make mechanical weapons he dubs “Akuma,” and once a soul is in an Akuma, it is trapped there for eternity unless exorcised by an Anti-Akuma weapon, an "Innocence.” Allen Walker is joining the Black Order as an official exorcist to enter the fight against the Millennium Earl. He and his fellow exorcists must use all the tools at their disposal to stop the Millennium Earl before he can execute his plot that threatens the destruction of the world. This manga is a darker take on shounen, and if that’s what floats your boat it’s a must read.

4. Yu Yu Hakusho

Yu Yu Hakusho iamgeAs a Spirit World Detective, Yuusuke is faced with many tough challenges he'll need help overcoming.

Yuusuke Urameshi was a street fighting 14 year old delinquent, and is killed in a car accident when trying to save a life. His one act of goodness confused the underworld, and so he is given a chance to return to his body if he can pass a series of tests. Yuusuke succeeds, and is revived as a Spirit World Detective whose mission is to investigate supernatural activity in the human world. Enemies he must face include demons with nefarious goals and other humans with supernatural powers. A cult classic for many years, this manga doesn’t miss with its amazing fight scenes and complex characters.

3. Noragami

Noragami imageYato slays the Ayakashi of the Far Share before they cause too much damage to the Near Shore.

Hiyori Iki was a normal highschool girl until she was hit by a car in an attempt to save someone in the middle of the street. That someone turned out to be Yato, a minor god, and because of her actions, Hiyori’s soul gains the ability to leave her body. Hiyori decides to partner up with Yato to figure out how to get herself back to normal, and in their adventures they meet many other spirits and gods, both good and evil.

2. Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man imageDenji is finally able to indulge in all sorts of human pleasures once he's gained his new powers.

All Denji wanted was to live a happy, peaceful life, but unfortunately he was forced by the yakuza into killing devils to pay off debt. When the yakuza decides he’s no longer useful, Denji is killed. Yet by some mysterious turn of fate he is reincarnated with the power of a chainsaw devil, and he’s determined to live a better life this time around. This dark shounen manga isn’t afraid to get chaotic with its art and plot, and is loved by many for that reason.

In a medieval island humans must beware of Yoma, man eating shape-shifters that take on the form of humans. To fight these monsters, The Organization created human-Yoma hybrids called Claymores that share the Yomas’ mysterious and demonic powers. Clare is a low ranked Claymore on the hunt for vengeance, and in her pursuit of it she learns about the world ranging from lessons about friendship to sinister truths about the very organization she hails from. This manga tells the tale of a tragic hero with the added addition of stunning art.
