Disney's Dreamlight Valley Best Ways To Get Clay [Top 5 Ways]

What Are The Best Ways To Get Clay In Disney's Dreamlight Valley

Clay is a seemingly simple material in the valley that is vital to quite a lot of crafting recipes and even quests. As such, it is one material that shouldn’t be overlooked. However, getting it can be a bit of a task. Fortunately, I know of five great and effective ways to get clay quite efficiently. These methods save both time and effort, giving you all the clay you could ever need.

5. Digging/Farming

Nothing like doing two jobs at once!

That's right—the task support system is back at it again. The valley has three biomes from which you can obtain clay. The game specifically mentions the Sunlit Plateau and the Forgotten Lands. But my guess is that due to not wanting to fill in more than two locations, one other biome isn’t mentioned: the Glade of Trust. All three are great areas to obtain clay, and one way to make it efficient is by farming. Since you need to put down plots for your farm to begin with, this helps you too not only make a decent-sized farm to grow crops but also gives you all the clay you could ever need. Do it with the help of a stack of cooked meals or lemons.

4. Making Use of Water and the Weather

Use your environment and weather to your advantage

Similarly, with certain fish, the best areas to get lots of clay are around bodies of water and when it's raining. This makes sense since clay is essentially thick mud and dirt. As such, I can confirm I found clay around the river and ponds in the Glade of Trust. Similarly, the same rule applies to the Sunlit Plateau and the Forgotten Lands. For the rain, that one is a bit more random but it does happen quite often. Making use of when it does will also help you to harvest clay from all three areas very effectively.

3. Kristoff’s Stall

Kristoff is every bit as helpful as Goofy and his stall is proof of this

Yep, Kristoff decided to join Goofy in the stall-running business and make his own. When you help him set it up and upgrade it, you will have a full six slots to choose materials to buy from Kristoff. Now this one is a bit more random, so always check in with his stall every chance you get. If you see clay for sale, grab as much of it as you can to help obtain more of it, and continue doing so every time you see it for sale at his stall. The other small hiccup is how much clay you can purchase from him. I don't know if they changed it or not, but the amount may vary each time. It's another factor to consider.

2. Miracle Shovel Polish and a Partner

Even Efficiency needs a hand

This and the other potions the game offers are a new way to make the game fun and less time-consuming. It does take some gathering to make them, but it's well worth the effort for what the potion alone offers. Shovel Varnish gives your shovel even greater yield than before, making farming and digging a great deal easier for clay and other materials. And when you add a partner, if you wish to, it will increase the amount even more, ensuring you have plenty of clay for crafting and quests. Truly adding these potions has made farming for materials and other tasks a great deal easier. Just bear in mind the potions will wear off, and you will have to reapply them once it fades. Luckily, the game lets you know when your shovel, in this case, stops glowing.

1. Scars Quest line and clearing Elephant bones

Making the Lion King wannabe happy and helping you out in the process

As of the more recent updates, a certain younger brother to Mufasa got introduced to the game, and with him, two quests. One is his quest line "Nature and Nurture." With this quest, you not only unlock this surly feline but have someone who you can use as a partner to farm up clay in the Sunlit Plateau. But he will also help you to upgrade your shovel, which leads us to his other quest and another great method of farming for clay, which is "Breaking Bones" as shown above. This Quest has you putting your crafting and potion-making to use to make what is called Lion Claw Shovelhead.

With this upgrade applied to your shovel, say goodbye to yet another pesky barrier between you and the rest of Sunlit Plateau. But even more important, it gives you a large supply of clay each time you remove these Wildebeest Bones. A bonus is the game respawns the bones after a bit of time, so you can keep coming back to clear away these barriers and gather up as much clay as you need. Coupling this with making use of our said surly lion as a partner plus having full access to the plateau to farm for more clay after the bones are cleared away is a major bonus to this area and our resident grumpy lion.

So there you have it, everyone. Here are my five best ways to farm clay. With the addition of those potions and Scar’s shovel upgrade, it has become very helpful to get this kind of hard-to-get material due to it being shared with other materials you can dig up. I hope everyone can make full use of these tips for their clay gathering.
