For Honor Best Heavies Revealed (Ranked Weakest To Strongest)

The Big Boys are Here to Play.

The Heavy Class heroes have very high defense and a large amount of health. They are warriors that move slow on the battlefield, but make up for it by packing a heavier punch than others. They are great at defending bases, tanking Commanders in Breach, or overwhelming opponents. It is easy to try and play as a frontal assault warrior with the heavies, but patience is the true key to their gameplay. Parry, strike hard, and repeat.

However, which of the seven heavy warriors will help carry you to victory? Like all classes some are far better than others and today we are going to explain why that is.

7. Jormungandr

Jormungandr is a Viking heavy who wields a mighty mystical hammer. Jor is arguably the worst character in For Honor, easily making them the worst heavy. Their entire character relies on draining the stamina of their enemies to perform the knock down ground pound.  However, it only takes one go around against one to realize this strategy and counter it. Advanced players know this ability well so they will give you a true challenge. This heavy easily read, easily countered, and easily killed.

Strengths:

  • Powerful heavy attacks and punishing stuns
  • Stamina draining specialist

Weaknesses:

  • One dimensional fighter
  • Minimal combos and easily countered
  • Slow. Very slow.

Jormungandr: 40/100

6. Black Prior:

The Black Prior is a Knight Faction heavy who wields the sword and shield. Their light attacks are quick and provide a great opening to any fight. Their heavy attacks can be easily parried, but are also easy to cancel out of. The best ability is the ultimate block Because of this the Black Prior has the ability to keep opponents frazzled trying to block/parry until it is too late for them.

Aside from forward stabs and side swipes, the Black Prior provides many healing perks. He has two bleed attacks that do decent damage. However, his shield is not nearly as useful as the other shield-wielding warriors and they are also an overly predictable fighter.

Strengths:

  • All block and shield flips are great when mastered.
  • Quick light sword strikes.

Weaknesses:

  • Another one dimensional fighter
  • Inflicts the least amount of damage compared to other heavies.

Black Prior: 50/10

5. Shugoki:

The Shugoki is a Samurai faction heavy who wields the dangerous dual bladed Kusarigama. This shifty fellow truly encompases what a heavy is meant to be. They have an extra sprint ability that allows them to escape fights as quickly as they start them.

Strengths:

  • Quicker than he looks and most heavies can become unblockable if held long enough.
  • Several grab combos that help dominate the fight.
  • A true hard and heavy hitter.

Weaknesses:

  • Struggles in a crowded fight.

Shugoki: 60/100

4. Conqueror:

The Conqueror is a Heavy hero that serves under the Knight Faction. They wield a footman’s flail and heater shield. The For Honor community has never been short of trolls and no troll is better than the infamous Conq. This ex-prisoner turned war hero is nothing short of a bully and he can fight like it too. The All-Block ability he has can lead to several devastating combo attacks or a powerful shield bash. Without a doubt this hero has the best shield defense and this allows him to control and dictate his 1v1 fights. Aside from his effective All-Block stance he has a solid attack rhythm with his flail that if not dodged out of can quickly drain another heroes life. A Conq that masters his black stance will feel unbeatable and will allow the player to dance all over their fallen enemies bodies like many Conqs that came before them.

Strengths:

  • All block and shield bashes give a great edge.
  • Consecutive combo flail swings.

Weaknesses:

  • A slow fighter.

Conqueror: 70/100

3. Warlord:

The Warlord is a Heavy class character of the Viking faction who charges into battle with his Ulfberht sword and circular shield. I would think twice before going to battle against one of these ferocious heroes. Their All-block shield can punish you if you are not ready and their headbutts can leave you concussed. Overall this hero has fairly basic attacks, but once he gets going several of his strikes become uninterruptible. This means that even if you attack him before his slow heavy strikes land he will eat it and deliver an attack that will usually do far more damage to his enemy. The Warlord does not boast anything fancy like his S-Tier counterparts, but rather provides a solid character that excels in both defense and attack.

Strengths:

  • All blocks and several great breakers to help even a fight.
  • Hard and heavy hitter.
  • Several heavy uninterruptible combo swings.

Weaknesses:

  • One dimensional fighter with limited combos.

Warlord: 80/100

2. Hitokiri:

Hitokiri are Heavy class characters who belong to the Samurai class and wield the powerful Masakari Axe. Admittedly my least favorite hero to fight against in For Honor simply because they are easy to play as and have an incredible moveset. I say this because of the strong core mix-up in their fighting style. Almost all of their combos flow with one another and it can be difficult for the opposing warrior to predict what attack is coming next. Between Charged up unblockable heavy attacks and sweep kicks that can quickly take you out of the fight the Hitokiri almost has it all. This warrior also has a unique final perk ability known as Senbonzakura, which allows them to leap through the air and land an instant execution kill. While this is dodgeable the Hitokiri has a unique hang time in the air which tends to throw off would be victims. This is a powerful warrior that allows for some seriously dominating gameplay.

Strengths:

  • Dominant fighter that can easily finish a fight before running out of stamina.
  • Heavy attacks can become both unblockable and uninterruptible.
  • Quickest heavy hero for the amount of damage done.
  • Breaker leg sweeps and kicks help keep enemies on their toes.

Weaknesses:

  • Can take awhile to master making them predictable when you first start playing.

Hitokiri: 90/100

1. Jiang Jun:

Jiang Jun is a Heavy class Imperial General of the Wu Lin faction. His powerful Guandao typically lands him a spot in the S-Tier, but today I have bravely placed him at the pinnacle of A-Tier. (I will probably end up like that poor Warden). This mountain of a Hero excels in punishing all heroes who dare cross his path. The Jiang Jun is a flashy warrior who has attacks that can be difficult to parry due to their unique patterns and hang times. The general also boasts two unique fighting styles that help keep him dominating any fight. Sifu’s Pose allows him to swiftly retreat backwards and each time he enters this pose he will backwards dodge, but also regain 70 stamina. If integrated expertly in a battle a player can easily fight multiple enemies without ever losing stamina. This provides a huge advantage in any battle. Another ability, Dou Shi’s Choke, allows for Jiang Jun to immediately choke out an enemy after parrying then. The choke drains half the enemies stamina leaving them at a big disadvantage. This Hero can easily dominate any other and certainly deserves this high ranking spot.

Strengths:

  • Completely unique fighting pattern that has delays in strikes.
  • Heavy hitter that employs unblockable overhead strikes and wide ranged side swipes.
  • Can gain back stamina by dodging backwards.
  • Impressive arsenal of combos including the punishing chokehold that drains stamina.

Weaknesses:

  • A slow fighter that can be punished if you do not employ several different combos throughout a match.

Jiang Jun: 100/100

As I always say you can excel as any character, but when you break down each character I am beyond confident in these placements. That said if you train yourself and suffer through the many executions you’ll face you can become great as anyone and challenge those high tier warriors, but it will not be as easy a journey as maining the Warlord, Hitokiri, or Jiang Jun. If you want some more For Honor content check out the rest of my articles, especially the best Assassins, Vanguards, and Hybrids articles!
