Stardew Valley is all about beginning a new life in a new town after you inherited a land plot from your grandfather. 

One of the five skills you can pursue is the farming skill, which is one of the best because it can give you a steady income and it’s also fun! There are over 30 crops in Stardew Valley, ready for you to plant, and many of them grow in the Summer. 

They either have single harvests or multiple harvests after maturity. Harvesting crops is not only a great source of income, food, and even XP, but it’s also a good way of getting closer to some characters.

10. Wheat

A wheat farm

Wheat grows not only in summer but also in fall, so you can enjoy this crop much longer than any other crop. Although it only normally sells for 25g (Base Quality) and up to 50g (Iridium Star), you can put it in a Keg and make Beer, which sells for 200g (Base Quality), or 400g (Iridium Star).

Why wheat is great:

  • You can make use of it longer, as it grows not only in Summer but also in Fall.
  • It’s inexpensive and you make a profit out of it even when it’s Base Quality.
  • Grows fast and can be used in different recipes. 

Wheat details:

  • It’s used in Beer, Wheat Flour, and Fodder Bundle.
  • It takes 4 days to grow.
  • It’s inedible.

 

9. Hops


A hops farm

Hops grow on a trellis and produce again a day after the last harvest. It can be bought from Pierre’s for 60g and JojaMart for 75g, and you can sell it for 25g (Base Quality) or up to 50g (Iridium Star). Although it looks like you won’t make any profit if you sell it, this crop will turn into Pale Ale when put in a Keg, and it will sell for 300g (Base Quality) or 600g (Iridium Star).

Why Hops are great:

  • It makes you profit when turned into Pale Ale.
  • It continues producing every day after the first harvest.
  • It helps you level up your farming skill fast.

Hops details:

  • It takes 11 days to grow.
  • It restores from 45 Energy and 20 Health (Base Quality) up to 117 Energy and 52 Health (Iridium Quality)
  • It turns into Pale Ale when put in a keg.

 

8. Hot Peppers

Hot peppers are one of the crops that keep producing after maturity, and they have a small chance of dropping more than one Hot Pepper. The seeds can be bought from Pierre’s for 40g or from JojaMart for 50g and can be sold for 40g (Base Quality) or up to 80g (Iridium Quality). They’re used in many recipes and can even be given as gifts for certain characters.

Why Hot Peppers are great:

  • They grow fast and regrow after the first harvest.
  • They restore 13 Energy and 5 Health (Base Quality) or up to 33 Energy and 14 Health (Iridium Quality).
  • They can drop more than one Hot Pepper.

Hot Peppers details:

  • They can be used in Pepper Poppers, Spicy Eel, Tropical Curry, Summer Crops Bundle, and “Knee Therapy” Quest.
  • Can be given as gifts to Lewis and Shane.
  • They take 5 days to grow and 3 days to regrow.

 

7. Corn


A corn farm

Corn, just like Wheat, can be grown not only in Summer but also in Fall. This crop produces Corn even after the first harvest, and it’s used in many things. The seeds can either be bought from Pierre’s with 150g or JojaMart, for 187g. You can sell them for 50g (Base Quality) or up to 100g (Iridium Quality).

Why Corn is great:

  • It keeps producing Corn after the first harvest.
  • It restores 25 Energy and 11 Health (Base Quality) or up to 65 Energy and 29 Health (Iridium Quality).
  • It gives 10 farming XP.

Corn details:

  • It grows in 14 days and regrows every 4 days.
  • It can be used in Tortilla, Oil, Fall Bundle, Quality Crops Bundle.
  • It’s a multi-seasonal crop.

 

6. Blueberries

Blueberries are one of the best crops to plant because it keeps producing after maturity. Each plant produces 3 Blueberries at harvest, but there are chances that more would drop. You can only buy the seeds from Pierre’s, for 80g, and you can sell the Blueberries for 50g (Base Quality) or up to 100g (Iridium Quality).

Why Blueberries are great:

  • They grow fast and keep producing after the first harvest.
  • You get 3 blueberries from each plant, with a chance of dropping more.
  • You can turn them into Jam or Wine and sell them.

Blueberries details:

  • It takes 13 days to grow and it regrows after 4 days.
  • It’s used in Blueberry Tart, Fruit Salad, and Summer Crops Bundle.
  • It restores 25 Energy and 11 Health (Base Quality) or up to 65 Energy and 29 Health (Iridium Quality).

 

5. Sunflowers

Sunflowers are multi-seasonal crops, growing in Summer and Fall, and producing up to two seeds when harvesting them. They are used in cooking, bundles, or as gifts. You can buy the seeds from Pierre’s for 200g or from JojaMart for 125g. They sell for 80g (Base Quality) or up to 160g (Iridium Quality). 

Why Sunflowers are great:

  • They grow fast and have a chance of dropping up to two Sunflower Seeds when harvesting.
  • It gives 45 Energy and 20 Health (Base Quality) or up to 117 Energy and 53 Health (Iridium Quality).
  • It gives 14 Farming XP.

Sunflowers details:

  • They grow in 8 days.
  • They are used in Oil, Dye Bundle, and as a gift for Haley.
  • They are multi-seasonal plants.

 

4. Poppy


A poppy farm

Poppies are colorful flowers that you can plant and harvest for different things. You can buy Poppy Seeds from Pierre’s for 100g or from JojaMart for 125g. You can sell them for 140g (Base Quality) or up to 280g (Iridium Quality). They’re used in cooking, bundles, or as gifts.

Why Poppies are great:

  • They grow fast and you can get a profit from them.
  • They restore 45 Energy and 20 Health (Base Quality) or up to 117 Energy and 53 Health (Iridium Quality).
  • They give you 20 Farming XP.

Poppies details:

  • They can be harvested 7 days after planting.
  • If placed near a Bee House, it can create Poppy Honey, which can be sold for 100g-380g.
  • They’re used in Poppyseed Muffins, Chef’s bundle, or as a gift for Penny.

 

3. Melon

Melons can only grow in summer, and they are one of the 3 crops eligible to become Giant Crops. They’re used in cooking, bundles, quests, and as gifts. You can buy them from Pierre’s for 80g or JojaMart for 100g and sell them for 250g (Base Quality) and up to 500g (Iridium Quality).

Why Melon is great:

  • It can become a Giant Crop and it can drop 15 to 21 crops.
  • It gives you 113 Energy and 50 Health (Base Quality) and up to 293 Energy and 131 Health (Iridium Quality).
  • You can make a great profit.

Melon details:

  • It’s used in Fruit Salad, Pink Cake, Summer Crops Bundle, Quality Crops Bundle, “Crop Research” Quest, and as a gift for Penny.
  • It takes 12 days to grow.
  • You can turn it into wine and sell it for 750g (Base Quality) and up to 1500g (Iridium Quality).

 

2. Red Cabbage

Red Cabbage seeds are available from Year 2 and only bought from Pierre’s for 100g. They can be sold for 260g (Base Quality) or up to 520g (Iridium Quality). Red Cabbage is used in cooking and bundles.

Why Red Cabbage is great:

  • They grow quickly and you make a profit off them.
  • They give you 28 Farming XP.
  • They give you 75 Energy and 33 Health (Base Quality) or up to 195 Energy and 87 Health (Iridium Quality).

Red Cabbage details:

  • You can make wine or pickle it and you can sell them for 585g and 570g.
  • It’s used in Coleslaw, Fish Taco, Red Plate, and Dye Bundle.
  • It takes 9 days to grow.

 

1. Starfruit

Starfruit has one of the highest sell prices of any crop. It can only be bought from the Oasis, for 400g. Although it may seem too expensive, keep in mind that Starfruit can be sold for 740g (Base Quality) and up to 1500g (Iridium Quality). You can get Giant Starfruit Crop only with mods.

Why Starfruit is great:

  • It gives you 125 Energy and 56 Health (Base Quality) or up to 325 Energy and 146 Health (Iridium Quality).
  • It’s very profitable and grows fairly quickly.
  • It gives you 43 Farming XP.

Starfruit Details

  • It takes 13 days to grow.
  • Can be made into wine and sold for 2.250g (Base Quality) and up to 4.500g (Iridium Quality).
  • It’s used in Junimo Hut and “A Soldier’s Star” Quest.
